Kitty Hawk/Panda Closing Shop

They have posted a one liner on their Facebook page that they are closing. It has been the buzz on several forums and after some thoughts that they had been hacked, it seems to be confirmed. They will be selling off what stock they have on hand. There will be no new molds.

That would mean their Hawkeye kit just skyrocketed in value. Guess it's going to the show also. 💰

I'm on the fence if I want to snag a SH-60B or HH-60H while I still can. One half of me is saying they are too expensive, not my "preferred" scale, and I got too many already. The other part of me is saying they will very likely not be getting any cheaper if production is truly over (which some comments from supposedly close sources seem to point too.

Ideally I'd like one in 1/48...but the only one I've seen is the Italeri, which seems to be fairly rare and is priced accordingly (1 available on ebay currently @ $90 + shipping).

Maybe if I dwell on it long enough my decision will be made for me.

As the one who confirmed with Sophia Lam and asked the US sales rep, Glen Coleman to post, I can assure you that they are closing shop as soon as all stock is sold. All future projects are canceled. This means I wasted time and energy with the Su-25 series, Bruce Craig wasted hours and pocket travel money on his pet F-84, and the Sales Rep $25k.

Another person passed on to me hearsay that the brand is changing owners and names. The validity will be known if the molds are sold off or not.

My advice, get what you can afford from the items you wanted. Many are not going to be released by other companies (or at least until the molds are bought and put back in production).

NOTE: They took down their Facebook page this morning, June 4th, 2021.

Regards,

It’s sad. I bought that early 105mm armed M1 Abrams that I have wanted for a long while. But really their armor are mostly items I see little interest in
