"Just a Little Bit Closer..." Nightly Ambush Patrol, Long An Province, VIetnam 1968

JamesOLeary

Master at Arms
I built this vignette just prior to this year's Tulsa Figure Show. It depicts a patrol leader of a nightly ambush patrol preparing to initiate an ambush by detonating a claymore mine. The figure is one that I sculpted over the course of a couple of weeks during downtime during my last tour in Afghanistan. I sent the master in to be cast by Custom Dioramics for their Yanks figure line and this is the box art for it. I painted the figure with acrylics, sculpted a claymore bag and bandoleer, ran wire for the claymore to the edge of the base, and used vegetation from Dioramapresepe.

Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
James
