Jagdpanzer IV Variants WIP

The Daytona NASCAR race was rained out dangit so here's an update for you.
The Tristar hinges were so thin and fragle I used the unused DML A-O hinges for the hatch covers.

The kit was missing the splatter shield at the front base of the casement and a strip of PE sprue came in handy. I wrapped copper wire around the travel lock to simulate some kind of contraption????

Tools are all cleaned up too.

Cheyenne,it's getting to the point where you'll have to work from birth to death just to serve the governments needs.

Thumbs, eight years in the air force but I like SPGs and picture books help the most. :D

Thanks Andy for dropping in on me and the compliment.

Have a good one

Construction Alert Step #10 Mesh skirt hanger parts:
View #10-1 shows two parts,#G-1 & G-2 but there are three parts NOT two.
The unmentioned part is found on PE fret #2 as part #4 and is shown in the photo below on the left.

It seems DML is not the only brand that makes mistakes. :hmmm

So the non mentioned piece, is that to change the angle of hang for the schurtzen? Looks kind of strange with all the knobs.

Oh and my guess would be the springs move the gun cradle out of the way, not 100% on that though.

James

TONY,

Good lookin stuff ! Nice & Clean ! I'm digin' it. A High profile SPG !

Keep on Rockin' .... lookin' forward to th next installment !!

You're right James the inner loop brings the schurzen in close to the suspension so they're not knocked off as easy and the outer loop swings them out so mud and snow doesn't build up on the suspension as well as providing room if they run those duck bill tracks.

Those knobs are the studs that go through the wire mesh to hold the mounting hangers.
I don't have a clear picture to see just how those springs work so I had to wing it.

They had to mount the gun high Erik because the fuel tanks under the floor kept the gun from elevating fully.
They moved the tanks on the L/70(V) so the gun was installed lower.

Nice kit in my opinion,DML is suppose to release one in Oct. of this year and i'm anxious to build it.

Howdy
Finished the right side hangers so that job is completed.

Stormy night but today has been beautiful

The Tristar kit didn't provide the 18 upper screen hangers but the Aber PE L/70(A) set did.
I made a jig to hold the center blade upright so I could solder it,not enough surface area for glue to hold.

All that's needed now is 16 more retaining pins and those will be completed.

Fun was had by all

Fantastic idea Tony. Never would have thought of it. Love watching you build and learning new stuff.

HI All :Hiay

Since this is my first adventure into Thoma schurzen I thought I better get one out and formulate a plan before going off the deep end and screwing the pooch.
Here's the parts for the center panel laid out. The screen is sandwiched between those reinforcing strips top and bottom also the three upper hangers.

All soldered up
100_1293.jpg

Not as tough a job as I thought it would be but you need a delicate touch so you don't smear the solder around where you don't want it. For scale purposes those parts are really thin so don't get rough with it.

That's it until Monday,my poor old back needs R&R. :D
Tony lee

If you quit chasing skirts all day your back wouldn't hurt  :D Looking spiffy Tony. Very nice (y) (y) (y) (y)
