In-Progress Tamiya M-48 A3

Hi there.

I started this one a long time ago. I'm now thinking about converting it and finishing it as an Israeli Defense Forces tank instead of a Vietnam War variant. As you can see, I decided to build it with a working searchlight. That working searchlight was done just to see if I could do it.

Sweet!!!!!!! The working search light is GREAT!

I love the M48 so much can be done with that kit. IDF version would be cool.

Are you going to keep the search light?

Can't wait to see what you do.

Hi there.

If I can't find an image of an IDF M-48 with the searchlight I'll keep this one going as a Vietnam Era tank. I don't want to remove that working searchlight and I do have another Tamiya M-48 A3 kit that I can convert to an IDF tank.

If you wanting to do a later version say a Magach 5. It should be like this one (That is what I have been told.) But with IDF equipment it could be different. The one below is like the M60A3 light but with armor box for it.

Hope that helps you. Feel free to check out more photos that I have been gathering for years (it is still kinda messy)

Hi there Sherman.

Thanks for the images. They have convinced me to go ahead with another Israeli tank model. I even have another 1/35 scale Tamiya M-48 A3 Patton kit that has not been started. I can use some of the spare parts in the 2-in1 ESCI/Ertl IDF M-60 Blazer kit, such as the 105 mm gun tube without the thermal sleeve, for the M-48 Magach.

Thanks again for the images and also for the link to more of them.

Cheers from Peter
