How to scale up drawings???!!!! HELP

Mikkel

Member
Hello Friends!!

I really need some help regarding some scale drawings,I'm hoping to make a Super Tucano in 1/32, but don't know how to scale up them drawings!!

How do you guys do it??

Cheers,
Mikkel

Devide it by the scale you want and times it with the scale it was.

Example if its 48 scale and you want 32 scale

20mm / 32 = 0.625
0.625 x 48 = 30mm

or just multiply by 1.5 (150%)

From 72 multiply by 2.25 (225%)

Hope this helps

I use photoshop but I would say scanning it in at the necesary percentage enlargement works the best.

I've got photoshop :)

The problem is that the drawings I have are all on computer...

Here's a drawing of a PC-7, I don't know about which scale it is :(

If I put it in PS and use the scale tool, then I should be able to get it to the right scale??

that is if I know the lenght of the plane (wiki) and what it'll be in 1/32, then should I just plot it into the scale tool?

I'm sorry for asking all those stupid questions I just don't know about this stuff :(

All the Best,
Mikkel

This is a good way to do it. If you use a calculator, once you have figured out the factor to enlarge or reduce by, enter that factor into the calclator memory. Then you won't need to recalculate that factor for each calculation.

Another thing you can do is figure out the factor and then get the drawing enlarged by that amount. In the example SA Dave gave you'd enlarge the drawing by 150%.

ok This is not rocket science (luckily :D )

Original wingspan is 10.4metres
Drawings is 0.2194 metres
in 32 scale it should be 0.325 metres (10.4m / 32)

Devide the size you want (0.325)with the size you have (0.2194)
this gives you 1.4813

Now times that with 100 and it gives you 148.13%

148.13% is the factor you want to increase the picture with to get to 32 scale

Hope this helps a bit Mikkel
