HalfTrack Help

I needs some quick help. I am supposed to build a half Track for a group build, due 1st Sunday in March. I usually don't build armor so... What is an "easy" haul track to build up and paint?

Here's a review of the 1/35 Tamiya M3A2 from some guy named Saul Garcia (@Sharkmouth) on Track Link, Tamiya Half-Track. Their Sdkfz 251 kits are quick builds too.

The newer generation kits have more fiddly detail and PE to deal with.

Cheers,

Wait, that can't be our @Sharkmouth why that article is 23 years old!

If you only knew that I bought that kit since Tiger Model Designs had released new hulls (all the screws were slotted) and suspension replacement. After all those goodies, the price went past the expensive Dragon Model Limited (DML) offerings when they were finally released.

My recommendation, from experience, would be the AFV Club Sd. Kfz. 251 series. Far more fiddly that Tamiya (for sure) but only a touch more expensive and less than DML. Tamiya's vices are well know and I have a lost (most of which are addressed by the AFV Club kit). AFV club even offered an update for the Tamiya suspension.

The best value (price, detail, and ease of build) would be the AFV Club Sd.Kfz. 11 series.

If I weren't boycotting Russian products, I would also mention the Zvezda L4500 Maultier. Simple kit with nice details:

Available with better decals from Revell:
