Guerrilla Modeler has arrived!!!

Bonesky

Beginner
Greetings friends, I'm Tony Bones. I'm a good friend and bro of Shawn Gehling, he led me to this forum. After a 7 year hiatus, I have returned to plastic and resin and brass and... I built my first model in 1959 at the age of 4, it was an AMC Mercedes Gullwing. I had once I believe the 1959, 60, or 61 Revell catalog, it had the HMS Bounty from the Mutiny On The Bounty movie with Trevor Howard and Marlon Brando as a new kit. My mother was a doll collector and I used to restore the face and hands for her. I also make museum-quality reproductions of American Indian artifacts, both weapons and day to day items.

My current interest is armor and artillery. My favorite mods are vehicles of one country given or captured from another, and particularly love the Russian T-34 and American Sherman. The question really is not what I am interested in, it's what I'm not. I love planes and sci fi models too but can build 5 tanks in the time I can build one plane and I like weathering and detailing armor. I had I think 4 active modeling groups on Yahoo groups until one day a gentleman from Down Under, who didn't like my comments and theories on the John Kennedy assassination, hacked my Yahoo ID and Hotmail account. I sort of lost interest, along with some family illness.

I am the Guerrilla Modeler, if I can find or afford a turned aluminum tank barrel I'll go with it, if I can do neither I make one from brass tubing and auto body filler. I'm also a mooch and a freeloader and have had friends send me parts and complete kits, basket cases, busted models and the like. A friend, Lance Mertz in Alaska, sent me the top superstructure of a T-34-76, I cast the wheels, and carved a 1943 turret from lumped-together, discarded plastic. Today it is Panzer gray, and wears the colors of the 1st SS Panzer Division, I am a scratchbuilder in the extreme. I have to recover my pictures from another hard drive and will post some goodies from a man with too much time on his hands and loves to make things with his hands, one only partially usable. Being a mooch is how Shawn and I and several other fine friends met. Got anything in the trash? Send it to me, email me for an address. Any model, any condition, this is my heroin.

It's good to be here and good to be back in touch with my friend Shawn.

All that sounds wonderful Tony Bones but you know what they say about Pictures...:mpup

Let's see:

1. Worth a thousand words(I have Adult Inattentive ADD, I am quite the conversationalist, I also dissipate a lot of that by writing horror fiction).
2. Digital photos are too easily faked(I'm into UFO research).

James, I'm glad to meet you. I got some projects for Shawn to do and need to drag out my 1/24 Tamiya Jagdpanther and get on the zimmerit job and the also find some pics of the model with the roof-mount remote machine gun. Had that model for 25 years now. Due to financial constraints and the fact my missus has lung issues I have become quite the proficient brush-painter.

Thanks you again!

Thank you Jenny. I love turned aluminum barrels, 15-25 bucks is a bit beyond me, I do my best to craft what I can by hand, little things like that. I did a stove once made from oil drums, little everyday things fascinate me too. I have photos from 2002-2003 that survived 3 computer crashes I need to recover and look forward to finding my pics of making shaped charge hits in a tank, things like that I get into.

I lost a collection of over 1400 kits when my mother and I were locked out of our home in a scam foreclosure/estate thing, the state I live in has no respect to personal property rights is the reason I am a mooch. I also like little things like throwing an anti-tank gun on the back of a truck or APC, little field mods. I'm real esoteric.

Have a great day and let the plastic fly!

Thanks Erik. Shawnee/Cherokee myself, family legend is there is a Sioux in there somewhere. I lucked into about 4 buffalo jawbones and am wrapping up a pair of knives with jawbone handles. I also have a scratchbuilt T-34/76 1941 turret I'm going to mount a concerted effort in locating.

Hokah Hay!
