Sherman 18
Master at Arms
Here is the P-51 that my daughter Grace put together (I did the glueing) but she picked what parts would go on next, where they go, and then had to hold them until dry. Her first paint job was with some cheap paints for paper. They did not stick and started to peel off. I told her to wash it - she was more than happy too. Grace's quote was "I'm using pretty smelling soap so it will smell nice." Then she also took a bath with it. After that I let her use Tamiya paints. The bottom was painted mainly in "brown sparkle" (copper). She has painted the upper three times now. The last time she painted the wet paint with water. Needless to say she has been having a ball with it. Took to show and tell at school. She is still planning the paint job, but is now talking of wanting to build a truck.
The kit is the good o'l Revell 1/48 P-51D.
Starting the first paint job
I kinda liked some of the colors she was using and watching where she put them
After the second paint job
Pretty proud at this point
Right after this she did this really neat paint job with pink paint and a spounge brush - wished I had taken a picture of that it was my favorite one so far
Latest paint job
It has been so much fun watching her enjoy building and painting. Seeing her have so much fun and the really fun part (for me) is there is an on going story of why things have to be done that way. Just had to share this with everyone.
