Going all in on 1/16 scale Armor.

After building the large scale Takom Renault FT I'm spoiled now. So much so I don't see myself going back to modelling AVF's in 1/35.
I've ordered two 1/16 scale Panzer kits, the Panzer I Ausf a and the Panzer III Ausf J.
Yes, some...or most offerings in this scale are stupid expensive. But so far Takom and Das Werk kits are staying reasonably priced enough for me to play in this scale. Which is good since I do enjoy scratchbuilding and at my advanced age this scale makes it possible.

Nice, so which one is next? time to stockup on hardware? I just ordered some brass tubes direct from Flex-i-File. They carry the Albion line of brass. I see they have some fine brushes now but I didn't get any this time.

The Takom Panzer 1 will get here first, so I'll do it next. It looks like Takom has really upped their game with the Panzer I kit. The huge sprue gates attached directly to the parts are gone. As well as all of the injector pin marks that made the Renault FT kit so much of the hassel.

I need to jump into more brass working. I do whatever it takes to make parts with styrene. Knowing all the while doing them in metal might be better.

I'm getting the brass to beef up the attachment points of the boogies on the Lee. Looking back on my build thread of the last one I used 1.5mm tube to sure up the attachment points of the swing arms.
So where do you store these big tanks?

So far the Renault and the two panzer kits aren't crazy huge, given the real ones weren't big. The Panzer III will be a little larger. I have a 10 ft long by 12 inch deep shelf high over the workbench. Since I doubt my wife will let me display them in the living room that's where they'll live.

I have done a similar thing with vehicles moving to 1/9 for bikes and 1/12 for cars, My first love will always be aircraft but i cant do the detail in 1/48 -- 1/32 and 1/25 is just to large to display.
