German officer Berlin '45

Well friends,
After a really bad knee injury [I am 'living on painkillers'right now]I decided to go back
to my German officer.
Lately I could not focus on any modelling because the pain just had the upper hand. :(

I was also really frustrated because I could not do the face right like I used to do faces.
After a first try the face looked like something out of a zombie movie,it came back in a nightmare
It called to me:'Ron I need to eat your brains'.

It's like my right eye is getting worse.

O well, this is what I can do at the moment....
I painted with HUMBROL enamels and also used the MIG oils[for the face and shading on the
uniform]

I see I got to patch up the paintwork here and there!

I am planning to use these old ITALERI anti tank obstacles on my vignette,
they are done with a 'rust all'product from JOEFIX STUDIOS.

Well I know time is running out...don't know if I can get this done in time.
When I say I CAN do it in time I might jinx it....
[but I will try] :)

Greetings,Ron.

Good going Ron, looks fine, he may need bit more color in his cheeks but what do I know about figure painting??

The hedgehog looks fine!

Hey Ron! Sorry about your knee, hope that gets better quickly! (y) The figure is really taking shape, I like where you're headed with him!

Hey Ron, keep your chin up. I hear you about the knee and pain being a demotivator. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

RON,

Don't throw in th towel now Brotha' !! :idonno Lookin Good !! :v

May I make a suggestion ? Something I've found out recently - For a Highlight color to Field Gray - Mix some Vallejo German Camo Beige with the Vallejo Field Grey. It's a Great Highlight color &doesn't get bleached out like it does when mixed with straight white. Dry brush it across the front & hit th high spots of that Great Coat - Dude ! It would seriously PoP !!

Especially don't stop now ! You almost got it !! Each figure will continue to get better a& better. Those of Us that paint figures have all been where you are now & WE can offer up tips to get ya' Rockin' !! It won't take long !!

:drinks

Thanks MP,Mike,James,Erik and Andy! (y)

@ Erik:This figure is done with enamels and oils,so I don't know about putting
acrylics over enamels, does acrylic paint stick on enamels, can that be done?
Was it:enamels don't stick on acrylics...or acrylics don't stick on enamels?

If this figure was done with acrylics, I sure would like to try your suggestion. (y)
For now I will carry on using enamels and oils.

Thanks again everyone!

Greetings,Ron.

RON,

Try this - Get a tube of Unbleached Titanium- Oil Paint ( same color as th Vallejo Beige) & mix with your Field Grey color. ??

Yeah - It's a little hard to cover Enamel with Acrylic !

Hi,friends.

I am working on the vignette for my officer, while I am doing that,
I am also watching this one...
If you got time for it please enjoy,it's long but it's got English
subtitles...

Maybe this is just the inspiration you might need. :)

Greetings,Ron.

hi, friends.

Someday this week I will show you the pictures.[if there isn't going to be a Untergang] :D
will be a few days of-line.
So stay tuned!

Greetings,Ron.

One hour, fifteen minutes! I can't read that long! :D Looking forward to your finish, Ron!! (y)

Ok good people from MA,here is the end of Leutnant Ronald Andreas Schroeder.
[yes I give him a name] :D Mrs.Recon thinks I'm nuts for doing that! :woohoo:

The end, because I don't think he will survive his Berlin adventure...

Gave him just a small amount of dry brushing with a combination of Humbrol31 slate grey
and Humbrol 72 khaki drill[72 comes close to unbleached titanium oil paint]
Shading is done with'' MIG' wash brown[is the same as raw umber]
I did not more red to his cheeks, because he is scared to death and doesn't feel all to well.
He got some dusting with pigments on his boots.

The vignette is just a piece of insolation styrofoam[light weight and easy to cut and sand]
Used an old wall I had somewere in my stash,as also some old Italeri Czech hedgehogs.
Rubbel and debris done with Verlinden bricks ,crushed real bricks painted several colors, with
heavy dusting using pigments.

The leaflet tells to fight fire bombs with water or sand.
I had to use a 'made in China optivisor copy' to read it! :woohoo:
First I wanted to use a wall slogan,the well known:Ein Volk,Ein Reich,Ein FÜHRER!
Translated as:One people,one empire,one leader!
Then adding a K before the Ein. So"KEin,Volk,Kein Reich,KEin FÜHRER!
Translated"No people,No empire,No leader!
But i guess it would be suicide for someone to add a K at that time in Berlin,
with all the armed desperate NAZIS running around!

The smog staining on the wall is done using Tamiya X-19 Smoke with added X-21 Flat base.

I wanted the figure to give the 'I am all alone feeling' so I did not add much stuff around him.
On the other hand, his troops are close to him,he is preparing his flare pistol to give the
signal for a final counter attack!

Used Verlinden's barbed wire on the Czech hedgehogs. they are done with an 'rust all'product
and dusted with pigments.

Ok,that was the story of Leutnant Ronald Andreas schroeder, thanks for waching this.
Maybe some day I will do another figure, although my eye's are working against me. :(

But I enjoyed doing this,...guess vignettes and dio's is something I want to try out
some more! :) :woohoo:

Greetings,Ron.

in my stash.
