French AMX-30B2

Your not wrong engineer the fine detail's in this kit are sweet.
They even provide a jig for bending the P/E that is supplied with the kit and also for assembling the track link's.

A little more detail added to the hull.

I have also begun to construct the upper turret.

So far I have only used a little filler, mainly on sprue cut point's.Also going to see how well the kit barrel shapes up before getting a metal job :D

Very Nice looks like a sweeeeeeett !! build save them jigs might come in handy down the road, Keep on :soldier

Here we go with the start up pic's.

This is the first modern tank I have attempted to build so tip's and hint's as well as pointing out stuff up's is welcome. :D
Even though there is a great aftermarket etch set for this tank I will stick to a box build (KISS theory )
although I may get the barrel for it. :idonno

Hey, what make kit is that, please?

I do not blame you rgarding the barrel. I too am spoiled by the aftermarket resin and metal barrels, to e, they are worth every penny

I have the Orange Hobby barrels for mine. You can see them at BNA.

Have made a little more progress on this.
The breach of this gun is well detailed but for the life of me I cannot understand why as it cannot be seen in the turret :idonno
The rubber flap is a nice touch,a little surgery was needed to get the gun mantlet to fit square.

These smoke launchers were fiddly :frantic

Side rails went on without any problems.

This thing has more cameras and periscopes than you can poke a stick at,as well as A/C unit and lights.
Some of the smaller units I have left off till later.

Now these were a monumental pain in the rear to fit untill the glue took hold :bang head

Paint will flow soon :salute

Just n case you are wondering about a different paint scheme here are some ideas. Scroll down to see. The Cypris and Spain also had them.

First spray of paint.I sprayed some dark grey around hatches and fittings to give a little depth. Then placed the first coat of sand on.

I put on two light coats on. The colour looked a little pink so a coat of wooden deck tan was applied to knock the edge off.A fine mist of lightend deck tan was sprayed to the high spots.

Again the pic's do not show the difference clearly. Once the final cammo colour has been applied a wash will tone it down (I hope :hmmm )
