Someone asked about the Dry Transfers from Hobbydecal. So I got a couple of shots as they were going on. Actually needed a couple of shots, you know how small a "no step" stencil is in 1:48??
Full sheet, yeah, I ain't puttin' all those on this thing!
Line it up
And rub it down with a burnisher. I know with the Archer transfers you can make them water slide also, that would come in handy for these little ones. you can see a couple that had just been done to the left. Having trouble with the smaller ones tranfering, will experiment on other ways to get them off the film.
This will be shelved a little while as I get started on the Tamiya Mustang. But I'll finish it out some time soon.

I've picked this up again, not really the first one but...when I went to find it, I couldn't. No where to be found. Guess I chunked it during one of those cleanup sessions.
Easy fix, went to Hobby Lobby with coupon in hand, $15.00 later started over again.
Had some fit issues on this one, the nose/intake area got a lot of attention. Think it's sorted out now.
New plan of attack on NMF. Using Tamiya Gloss Black, dries much faster! Cures quick and sands well. I'm going to polish it out tonight and see if I can buff a nice shine on it.
Also thinking of doing the Alclad treatment in secions like this. The fit on the wing to fuselage is great. I've notice that in the wing root area I get a lot of rough spots from paint drying before it hits the surface, hard to sand down in those areas.

Add some Tamiya thinner and some fluid retarder . It's too dry when it hits the plastic . :hmmm

No Tamiya thinner here. The Liquitex retarder ok?

The retarder will help help but not sure if it will be enough . If you use too much retarder it may not dry . Need to find a balance
gotcha. Going to polish what I have tonight and see how it looks.

Works really well doesn't it Young Lunar Dog. Go back and re-visit my aborted F-86 project further dawn the list if you have any questions about laying-on the Alclad in sections. I do it all the time.... works for me !!
