For a long time, this model circles around me, but every time when I opened the box and tried to fold the main elements I give up. I do not know what tempted designers of the model, but conceived split of the fuselage is a real nightmare. Well, time to get down with this monster behind bars.

There will be a quick deployment - I expect a lot of "creative crisis" and related interruptions :S

This does look interesting. I hate working on kits split the way this one is. Very difficult. Looking forward to more though.

strange looking kit..are the wings translucent?

Hello all,
since we did not get an immediate answer, I had to go to the warehouse (alias the closet) to find the answer. I have not seen mine in years.
And the answer is .... YES ! Part of the kit is translucent ? ? ? Wonder who made the Kit for Revell ? Rather odd.
Can't wait to see how the build goes.

Re: North Front 1939-44; IL-4, WWS KBF, Revell 1/72

Yes, it's true that some of elements are made from translucent plastic, but it is not a problem. Much worse is that this translucent plastic has ability to glue like soap holder from the eighties.

From information that I have, this is the last model designed by Veb Plastycard - the well-known East German company which primarily produces airliners models in 1/100 scale.

I wonder if the Zvezda version would go together more simply. It's not the same mold. Anyone ?

Oh I see what y'all are talking about...gees..that's a tough build. Maybe some cross section bracing inside to give it something more to build up from.

Admittedly a subject of the structure didn't change, but his base changed. After unexpected problems with Revell I was forced to reach for the Zvezda model...

This one looks like it'd a handful as well. Glad to learn anything I can about it. Thanks..

The model finally finished. It has long been no model has led me to such discouragement - now I'm happy that I finally finished it. I'm not really satisfied with the outcome - but it's like to lose enthusiasm and heart to build it ...

The model represents an aircraft from the 1 MTAB of Baltic Fleet Avaiation, which regiment he became famous for conducting the first ever WWS raid over Barlin. This took place at nights 7 August 1941. Six weeks earlier Germany started Operation Barbarossa, Soviet forces were in constant back - air raid on Berlin for the Russians had the same meaning as the Doolittle raid on Tokyo for Americans.

Until the airfield (Kagul) was destroyed by Luftwaffe and nearby land take by the Germans a 1 MTAB performed the even nine raids (the last at night, 4 September).
