I reduced the pupil size and increased the amount of eye lid.

All three look fine John! They certainly do not look amateurish to me at all!

One thing. A problem all figure painters encounter. Not all 1/35th figures are 1/35th scale. The one on the right, although painted well, looks like it is not the same scale as the other two. After you mount them on the bodies, that may diminish that impression!

Figure painting is the is the toughest part of modeling and diorama building. Not just for me, but for every modeler I know. They are a different critter altogether and require different skills as well as different techniques.

I would say you are certainly on your way to get where you want to be. You apparently have natural artistic talent and that always helps. It just takes practice, practice and more practice!
