Definition of a "Shoebox"

Ok, I'm going to ask a totally stupid question, but one that I feel needs to be asked. Can a 51 Chevy fastback be considered as a "Shoebox", or is that designation only applicable to '49-51 era Fords? I want to find out for the purposes of a future project. I have a 51 fastback Chevy and I want to find out if I can use that as a "Shoebox", or do I need to get my mitts on a 49 Ford.

Thanks for clearing that up. I am looking for a 49 Ford coupe to use in the project, but right now my $$$ are all tied up between Christmas and bills. I am still looking though.

Yeah, I like the Hirohata Merc as well, but I also like that Sam Barris Merc shown in the last Scale Auto. I like the green color as well as it's styling.

I have quite a few shoeboxes - Its where I keep all my shelfquens in :blush:

Must say this is the first time I heard the term for hotrods.

The Merc I'm talking about is in the issue with the "Red Alert" Chevelle on the cover. Look on the lower left corner of the cover and you'll see a small pic of the car. I have a couple of AMT 49 Mercs in my stash, one of them being the "Rides" issue, but it is the one with the rubber band tires, and I need to figure how I want to build that one. I'm planning on doing a custom on my other 49, which is the regular re-issue.

I always loved the Hirohata Merc!!!!It almost looks like they should have made it that way. It's still a custom, but it's subtle.
 
That ebay site has some sweet deals, unfortunately Right now, I'm so poor I can't even pay attention. I'll have to keep track of ebay for a decent deal.
