Char 2C Normandie

I have been impatiently waiting for this kit since I first saw it announced. It is just so different from what we think of when we first think tank. Started in WWI 1916 there is a very good article here of its history. It never saw action in WWI but was developed in the 20's and used mostly for propaganda as far as all accounts I have read. I want to build Normandie even if it is just a monocolour scheme.

Meng released this late last year and mine arrived today.

Now first step is putting together the road wheels. All 74 sets. Step 2 is mounting them. Well I got half way through step 2 before I had to call a break. I might have gotten more done, but in a flash of no brilliance I decided to throw half the wheels onto the floor and under my desk. :bang head Well I paid my dues retrieving them all and nary a one was lost. So here is where I am now, half way through step 2.

The casting of the kit is awesome. I think this will be a fun build despite my best attempts.

Upper hull just sitting here as I work on the side sponsons. Left off some easily breakable stuff till later. What a joy this kit is to make.

Where did all those wheels go? :eek:hmy:

So what do you think of the kit so far? (y)

What an awesome kit. Even though there are lots of tny items it is engineered so well, you cant put it together wrong. Nice and crisp. The PE is incredibly thin yet detailed. Loving this so far.

That looks like you're having fun James, good progress (hate wheels).

Had a look at that link, that French thing was 69 ton pile of metal :blink :blink Tiger I was only 59 !!!. GEEZ !!!

Love the build though keep it coming :popcorn

Well hull is basically done. Just a few parts left. Stuck the turrets and engine room on to see what it looks like. BIG. Enjoying this so far.
