Bergepanther rebuild / scratch rework.

I changed my mind on the paint theme a bit and decided to go with more tan. It looks a little funny as of now but there is a method to the madness for the way its done. next is detail paint weathering and all the add on goodies.

Thanks Sherman hopefully I can get some time with the big kitty tonight and get some detail and weathering work done.

started getting some of the wear and weathering done. Added a filter wash followed by a target pin wash . Rusted the exhaust. Also added a bit of wear and dirt to the spade.

:hmmm Really lookin' good thar Chris!! One would think the spade would be a bit more "used" looking tho :skipper

thanks ed. that's what I thought too. I looked at several pieces of equipment on job sites in preparation for that and they done polish as much as you would think.Goood lookin on that . If its wrtong I want to correct it. thanks ed .

now im looking at it second guessing it. I may add a little more alclad . It can always be dirtied up. That's whats so awesome about this site is people actually give constructive feedback . Thanks again Ed :salute

Looking good. I thing you got it myself . Basically like sanding piece of steel with very coarse sand paper.

Cheers, Christian B)

I've worked with heavy equipment back in '89 & our dozers, bucket loaders & blades were basically bare metal along the business ends. Scuffed up paint. pitting ,etc from wear & tear. But, looking over the job of weathering this beast, it's lightly used & well maintained.
I'd say go look at Bob's Dozer thread, think there were some good reference shots ...

Right, you don't see dozer blades rusted up unless they haven't been used. When in use it's like they are getting sand blasted, or sand scrubbed all day long.

Coming along very Nicely, :drinks I would say the spade should be very shiny, where it had contact with the earth, new paint up top then fade to shiny down to the bottom. If the blade hasn't been in contact with the earth, say even overnight there would be bright streaks of rust from the Dew coat. Just saying my observations.

Cheers Gerry (y)

Thanks for the help ed and Bob. It's back to the allclad for a little more wear I'll post some pics of the spade later after I get off work and touch it up

Good call there swordsman you are absolutely right . even tracks will have a light coat of orange rust in the morning
