For me, this will discovery journey - not enough that I'm going on almost (or rather not at all) unknown for me areas of armored modeling, then object itself is quite unusual ...

I'm planning to made this vehicle as one few AB.41 used by Polizia Africa Italiana, Tunisia 1943 (the last photo second from top).

Re: Autoblinda AB.41 - Supermodel - 1/48

Excellent! This kit, by SuperModel, is a cooperation between them and Italeri. Expect to see the vehicles under the Tamiya umbrella too but co-labeled Italeri.

Hubert, I mention this because many may want the kit but not find SuperModel. Also, if they want to find detail sets for the aircraft or armored car, they know which brands it will fit.

So... are you done yet?

Well, it's time to start working on the model ...

First time from long time lack in my knowledge concern object of modeling shocks me - I have tried reading something about Autoblinda, but all information what I found did not remove insufficiency.

Question: what color to paint the "chassis" along with all the existing dwelling there? Unfortunately, color marking for this item was lost by the manufacturer somewhere ...

The main elements glued together:

Wish I could help you with your questions, but it suffice to say that if you can't find the answer then no one can call you on your best guess.

Re: Autoblinda AB.41 - Supermodel - 1/48

From the period photos, I see that the frame and underparts are armored as well as in the same color as the rest of the vehicle.

From museum pieces, there is red primer visible but don't paint it that color since red shows darker than the sand color used on the upper surfaces and the photos I saw had the same shade.

Painting completed, now it's time for varnish wash and soiling. Although I do not know if I will be forced to the paint Italian flag because I have some doubts about the decal (or rather their putting on the model).

During the searching the photos and operational (combat) history of AB.41 i find a photo which was inspired my to change primary plan to finish model as a one of Italian African Policy vehicle.

This is photo (with description: Italian column in Gafsa):

source: http://wojna-mussoliniego.pl/?page_id=335

I was focus my searching to find more information about units and related history.

This is what i find:

Gafsa was capture by Italian 131 Armoured Division Centauro during the Battle of Kasserine Pass. On 20 March 1943, the Division Centauro received the attack of the U.S. II Corps to complete. The division resists the enemy forces, but because of their superior numbers and equipment, the Italians were able to withstand only 12 days, and it was not until March 31 when he was relieved by the 21st Panzer Division of Germany. However, even if she could hold the line, the Centaur division had been virtually annihilated, so the provision of bersaglieri was added to Kampfgruppe Manteuffel, while their tanks, although under Italian command, were added to the 10th Panzer Division.

The 131st Centauro Armoured Division remained in Tunisia until the end of the campaign, surrendering in April 1943.

131st Centauro Armoured Division was composed of:
31. Tank Regiment
5. Bersaglieri Infantry Regiment
5. Bersaglieri Motorcycle Company
22. Motorized Infantry Support Battalion
131. Artillery Regiment
31. Motorized Engineer Battalion

According to Autoblinda AB.41 history i know that this type of vehicle was normally used by Recon, Cavalry and ... Bersaglieri units. Basis on both this information i assume that photo can present vehicles from 5. Bersaglieri Infantry Regiment. Due the the fact that Italian army didn't use a specific marks for units, only a strips (rectangular) to mark sub-units i finish my model as a car from third platoon of the second company of 5. Bersaglieri Infantry Regiment - Gafsa, Tunisia, January-March 1943.

As a curiosity I can give that a few vehicles of this type has been captured and used by fighting in North Africa Polish Army troops (Carpathian Lancers Regiment).
