Lets cheer ourselves up
In the UK the Blossom is on the trees
The daffodils are out
Spring is in the Air...................and so are the Spitfires again

Pleasure trip season has started :)

No, not falling for the spring thing yet. We've had 3 or 4 fake springs so far only to be thrown back in the deep freeze and snowed on. Double digit temperatures, without a negative sign, are forecast for next week. Time will tell if they stick around this time.

Cheers,
RichB

I'm kinda like Rich over here, can't put a tomato plant in the ground till the 2nd week of May, temps in the mid 20's F at night still, but 50-60* in the day. I do love that post, Paddy, Spits away,...............awesome pics!

Hi Steve
We have 5 of these TR9s locally on 2 airfields doing trips above the English channel and across Kent and the battle of britain area of southern England. I sometime wonder if it would be worth splashing out but i would need to lose a couple of stone..(about 28Ib) as i am too heavy :) They would need a Lancaster to get me up.... top weight is 235Ib and i am 260Ib...
These are from my local airfield shoreham, its the oldest commercial airfield in the world apparently

the secret is to get prop blur and still have sharp detail, its easy to freeze everything sharp but if you freeze the prop it looks daft if its flying :)

i dont do aircraft photography anymore, rules and regulations have made it very difficult here

Tulu-lu-lips and Daffodillians awaken here on the soggy prairie. Perennials pay no mind to forecasts. Our trees and bushes are becoming fuzzy. The most cheerful part of the year!

While it may not be spring, there are signs of that other season, Construction. Edmonton is expanding their LRT system, and several major intersections are being closed for 2 to 7 months. They hope completely closing the intersections will cut the construction time in half.

Cheers,

BRILLIANT!!

ha ha its not rules about taking pictures :) its gaining access to areas to take pictures. Military airfields are pretty hot now, the police will move you on if you stop around the boundary's. Airshows have all but stopped now since the hawker hunter crash at Shoreham in 2017. Most display organisers cant warrant the public liability insurance following that one where 11 people were killed.
Most military airfields now are up North and i live in the south. All the southern RAF airfields have closed due to limited airspace as the london civil airports have expanded . US stations like Lakenheath and Mildenhall are both on the East coast and fly straight out to sea for training ;
The change in defence strategy now has seen the closure of most military airfields in favour of one large field for each category so all the tankers and transports are at RAF Brize norton, all the navy stuff is at Yeovil All the F35 are at RAF Marham and the typhoons are about 60 at RAF Coningsby and 90 at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland.
Its not like even 20 years ago when RAF stations would organise photograph days and you could get out on the ramps on front line airfields.

I took this of a French mirage and i had to get out the way or it would have run me over :) you cant do this now...
