Actors, a very cool link

Donald Pleasance was given a great deal of credit for adding realism to The Great Escape. The Director blew him off at first, then he found out he had walked the walk!

Why is Richard Todd not listed? He played John Howard, airborne commander who took Pegasus Bridge, but he was also AT the taking of Pegasus Bridge under the command of John Howard.

One great name screams out as missing here.

Richard Tod played Guy Gibson in the Dambusters.
In real life he was an officer in the Parachute regiment and held off several German attempts to re take Pegasus Bridge.
This from Wiki

On 6 June 1944, as a captain, he participated in the British Airborne Operation Tonga during the D-Day landings.Todd was among the first British officers to land in Normandy as part of Operation Overlord. His battalion were reinforcements that parachuted in after glider forces had landed and completed the main assault against Pegasus Bridge near Caen.He later met up with Major John Howard on Pegasus Bridge and helped repel several German counter attacks.
As an actor, Todd would later play Howard in the 1962 film The Longest Day, while Todd himself was played by another actor.

EDIT....Just noticed MP beat me to it :) (y)

I'm sure you are right MP, i dont think he stayed in acting that long..I think mentioning that he played Guy Gibson in the Dambusters would click with most people :)

He had to turn down Bond in Dr. No, shame, he sure wouldn't be overlooked on these types of list if he had.
