A quiet day in the forest

Project in progress: see the picture.

Some things are ready, some half ready and some are not even started yet.
There is a wooden depot, Tiger tank, field kitchen, surgery vehicle, schwimmwagen, bunch of trees, radio sets,
about 20 figures and a lot of smaller stuff
One could make 4 or 5 separate diorama's from all this stuff.
And that is exactly what Im gonna do.
But then I will join them all together in one large scene, you can figure what.
Because that is what I love: to see all vehicles, figures and other stuff in a natural environment.
My dios are alway pretty large: see my introduction.

From time to time I will show some updates, but you realize the finish is still far away.
Hope you like the idea,

Re: The plan

Looking forward to this project,Wim.

What's in the box beneath the Tiger?

You could show the people around here a close up of the ambulance,I've seen it in real life, and sure looks great! (y) (y)

Greetings,Ron.

Re: The plan

Hi Ron,

The box contains a wooden kit of a german depot.

And OK, some more detail pics.

Its actually not an ambulance, but a real field-surgery car.
Germans really had some of these in action, but it is unkown if
they ever used a SWS. Bussing-Nag trucks for sure.
I self-scratched the superstructure, except for the medical instruments.
Roof is detachable to keep the interior visible :)

As said before;Looks Great!

Greetings,Ron.

Re: A forest scene

The first steps.

Quiet and sunny day in the forest....

First impression of a depot, with a radio set and some soldiers taking a break.

Still a lot to do, like an extended antenna, food and drinks for the men, painting crates/drums etc.

Maybe I will add camouflage nets, not sure.

Later a Schwimmwagen in repair, a field kitchen, the surgery car, an officers meeting and a Tiger tank (refuelling ?) will

be added.

All the groundwork todo, as well as a bunch of spruce trees.

On the road I might change some settings, we will see.

I had to use the flash, so the pictures are not really good, sorry for that.

Re: A forest scene

Tanx guys.

Ron, the figures are a mix of Dragon, Tamiya and Italeri.
But some may have been re-boxed from Esci, happens alle the time ;)

Re: A forest scene

Sure is the esci guys i recognize them from many years ago :D
You have made a good job on those guys willem, i know mine didn't look half that good

Re: A forest scene

Well here is the kit: an Italeri from 2002.
Probably a rebox from an old Esci kit ?

I use 4 of these guys.
And with putty, much shadows and highlights they become a little decent.

Re: A forest scene

Yes Willem,you are right... :)

ESCI_German_rest_area.JPG

Such a shame ESCI is no longer among us,they made some really nice kits in the '70s and '80s.

Some of their kits are now reboxed by Italeri.

Greetings,Ron.

Some steps further on the road :)

Some elementary groundwork, with what we call "big hole filler".
It has a nice fine sandy structure, a little sticky, and moisted somehow sculptable.
Brushed some earth colors to get a good color foundation to work on.

hk_4.jpg

The "open air" radio shack is done.

hk_5.jpg

The Schwimmwagen scene.
The challenge here was that the maintenance set was ment for a Kubelwagen, and the engine was lacking details and wiring.
So I made a tub for the pimped engine. Now it looks better.
Stille have to do the mechanic as well as the groundwork around.

First spruce tree is planted on forest ground. More will be added later.

Tanx for watching, Willem
