A modeling Tip

Recently a question was asked on best washes. I have been using oil paint in odourless thinner after some coaching here by Laura and Bob Sr and Terry and some others a few years back. Usually I mix it up in a small plastic cup and use it a few days until it evaporates. Well recently I made a new batch of melted plastic, something I last did 35 odd years ago, in a used Tamiya glue bottle. As I have been saving these bottles I figured I should use them. So after making my mix I put it in a clean bottle and will label it. As I get more bottles I can make different washes and save them too. So no wastage, a nice little point brush built in, a wash ready to use when I need it without having to make a batch, and a reuse of what otherwise would be garbage. Hope this is of some use to you.

With that fine pointed brush built in in the Tamiya jar cap,it would be just perfect for pin washes,
good thinking James! :good:

Great idea James :good: I always find the bottles of my Mig washes a big pain in the a°° as it is so difficult to stir up the wash, opening to one side and then a bottom that is so uneven :vmad

Usually i fill up my bottles with new glue (Ethylacetat or Methylethylketon MEK)

But if i get some empty i will try this :) thanks for sharing

I just add a dollop of oil paint to the glass and add the odourless thinner. Then stir it all in really well. Add more paint to get a more solid wash. Am going to make a few types as I use up my glue. Have another bottle ready for the next wash, black I think.

I have a tube of Mig oil paint that Rick Lawler have me way back at AMPS when I went down with Doc and Saúl that I might have to try this out on....
