A bit of my recent work.....

Good evening everyone;

Seeing as I am very new here, I thought I'd share a small bit of my work.

I must confess up front that I am a dedicated 1/48th armor builder, and I realize that this makes me a bit of a rare cat. I do, however, believe that 48th kits can be just as detailed and fun as any others.

Here are a few pics of a project that I recently completed, it's the Tamiya IC Firefly. As you can see, I added a few modest additions, but what I wanted to do on this build was to try my very first attempt at making home-made hessian netting, found often on ETO British Shermans.
After many experiments, this is what I came up with:

...And here is the finished model:

My newest, this is a British Sherman II (M4A1), modelled for Operation "Supercharge", the second battle of El Alamein, November 1942.
The model is only in it's base colors at the moment, as i am still waiting for decals to arrive...

That's it for now.

Any feedback, or critiques, are more than welcomed, and I thank you all in advance for taking the time to look.

Cheers All; Pat

You Sir, achieved what I have called the "Escape of Scale". There is no way to tell what scale those are. I am so looking forward to any work in progress you can share with us.

Hi Pat,

I remember seeing that first one on MissingLynx. It is easily one of the best Sherman models IMO that I have ever seen, scale irrelevant.

Anxious to see what you do with the second one.

:peace

Hi Pat.
When I saw your firefly on some other sites, I could not get over just how realistic it looked.
It might sound dumb, but Im not sure that if you were to build a full size one, it would look as real as this one. :woohoo:
World class .

Pat,

I like your detailing and finish on your cool looking Sherman.
Especially like your technique of the cammo netting.
The photos are gorgeous.

Thank you all very much for the kind words, and warm welcome.

"Escape of Scale"......I rather like that one, since that's the effect I have been after since I started doing these little beasts many years ago.

Modelling is modelling, regardless of subject, or scale, that is sort of my mantra.

I'll be sure to post updates as I progress, since I suspect there are many more Sherman lovers besides myself.

Cheers All; Pat

M4A1/Sherman II Completed, almost.......

Hello All;

As I promised some time ago, I have finished my kit-bash of an M4A1/Sherman II, in British service in North Africa.
This model is in 1/48, and it's finished as a tank from C squadron, 3rd Hussars, 9th Armoured brigade in Operation "Supercharge", the second battle of El Alamein, in November 1942.
The model is not quite finished, as I still need to source a crew set from somewhere, and finish a small scenic base.

On to some pics....

Base colours on;

This was a fun little project, but like i said, I still need to find suitable crew figures.
All comments & feedback are greatly welcomed, and I thank you all in advance for looking.

Cheers, Pat

Just amazing work Pat , the colours of the accessories really make the vehicle "Pop" with detail ! Lovely modelling eye candy ! :)
