Hey folks:
I recall when we were talking about this campaign last year, that there was some discussion around whether Drag cars would be 'in the spirit' of the original idea. I will build this as a strip car anyway, but just wanted to check if it would be OK to enter it here ??

Over to you.

...So here we go with the 'official' start-up/date-stamp pics:

Now, as for the paintjob... It's going to be inspired by this:

This is my 'little buddies' Hot Wheels '67 GTO in their HW Racing trim. All the Hot Wheels Racing models are in a version of this scheme, a deep metallic blue, with white stripes and red pin-striping, race numbers etc. So I sat down and traced the Revell profile drawings from the instruction sheet, drew-out & coloured-in about a half-dozen patterns, as this is written, I still haven't finally decided how it will look, so your guess is as valid as mine right now !! All I can say is that the white will be slightly metallic, and the whole 'feel' will be for a contemporary race-car; so no chrome sills, bumpers, trim or head covers !!

Stay tuned.

Tamiya grey primer straight from the rattle-can then polished smooth, ready for the 'Pearl White'.

You're right, Bob, obviously MOPARs design department were on an extended coffee break that day and left the office jnr alone with a box of crayons and a ruler. There is no 'style' whatsoever.

Kit is excellent tho'

If you ever see one of these go down the street you'll change your tune.

The boys were not on brake at all. They were designing a shoe box for the strip.

The lightest body they had and no extra coupled with a bad engine . All business.

This was not Mama's grocery getter :snoopy

No I mean this specific car a buddy of mine had when we were in the USAF. Blue with a flat black stripe over the top of it. Jacked up with slicks (back seat rider had to sit in the middle to balance else the wheel would rub the wheel well :rotf ) little skinny tires up front, big 383 mopar motor that had chains to tie it down to the frame and a fuel pump mounted directly on the frame with no buffer and made this god aweful whine/grind. And no A/C :blink

Actually, the 68 Dart looked quite sharp as a 60's street racer .

Very little in the way of dressing it up .

Some progress (hope Jeff is still around, he's gonna like this :ro: ). First, Tamiya Pearl White straight from the rattle-can:

Next, a little masking:

And finally, spray some paint, allow to cure and remove masking whilst simultaneously offering up prayers to any given deity:

...yep, pretty close to the sketch I was working to:

Now, if you don't mind I'm going into a darkened room to drink coffee and teach myself to smoke... :java

More soon.
