The cylinder heads are on upside down, the radiator hoses are on the top of the heads and go to the top of the radiator

Hope you can get them off and swap them

Back at the bench today finally. Working on the interior. I used thinned down Mr. Surfacer to restore the floor texture. I also started getting some color on the engine.

Thanks for the photos of the engine. The instructions called for zinc chromate! :gogo

Thank you guys. Here's today's progress. I got the frame and tranny painted along with the engine and the radiator. I also fabbed up a tail pipe. Gotta fix that seam on the radiator hose.

I started shooting some Vallejo sky gray on the interior. It will also be the color of choice on the exterior. Prewar navy gray was very light.

I went ahead and ordered some of the Vallejo Metal Color primer and clear from Freetime Hobbies. They have it for a much better price than Squadron. Once it comes in, I will mask off the light gray and prime the cargo area for the chrome strips. I did find a 1/25 gurney in resin. The quality is okay, but I will use it to make my own out of styrene.

That last picture of the ( real ambulance appears to be longer than the normal vehicle from here.

Is that an optical illusion or will the length of that model suffice ?

That is a different manufacturer. The original photo I found the ambulance was a Chevrolet. The kit will work. The gurney will be a little smaller. I have a friend who was an EMT and is all about ambulances and he believes that the gurneys were narrower and not quite as long because of the size of the ambulance. Back then there were no "EMT", only attendants whose sole purpose was to load the patient on the ambulance, get them to the hospital and take them out. It's hard to believe that the "EMT" is relatively new, coming about in the early 1970s, and they worked for the fire department.

That's right, I can remember early 70s the ambulance service in town was located at the Texico station on Main Street. Would not be uncommon for the guy putting you on the gurney to be grease covered.

Bob, do you remember the tv show "Emergency"? That show helped build the LA County paramedic group. I've read that all Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe had to do to become actual paramedics was take the written test. The idea of a paramedic came about in 1966 when the US government conducted a study in which they found out that a wounded soldier in Vietnam had a better survival rate than a motorist injured in an accident on the California highways because of the care the soldier was receiving in transit from a medic.
The tv show just helped publicize the need. Many of the boxes and totes used for meds and equipment were hand made or modified tackle and equipment boxes.

I remember SWAT as well, some years later I bought an AR15 because of it! I currently won an AR15 & Ar10 partly due to being curious about them from watching that show

Did you know that Emergency even had a Spin-off that was a Saturday morning cartoon?
