Just started this great new kit from Jon Smith Modellbau of a WW1 German NCO. Perfect casting and VERY accurate equipment and details - he always gets this stuff right! Painted with Vallejo.

Working on the Field Gear - 1st photo is original equipment from the LC collection. The 2nd photo is the painted kit parts. The bayonet scabbard in the kit is an early model that used a leather covering with a metal tip. Both styles were used until the end of the war. Canteens, though similar in shape, came in many variations of coverings and leather attachment straps. I'm going to work a bit on the fatigue jacket today.

Progress on the Field Jacket, Flare Gun and Belt. The Field Jacket was dyed Field Gray in 1915 (it was originally in a natural off-white color) for camouflage purposes in the front lines.
