1/48th Kit wanted

Phil

Active member
please move if in wrong place -

What I'm after is a 1/48 Mig 17 c Fresco(?) that was used in the Vietnam war to go with my F4J "Mig Killer" Showtime 100,

but has to be the camo of the pilot the mythical? Col Tomb with 3020 markings.

here is a 1/72 kit - but nowhere can I find one in 1/48 scale

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10132986

or a decal sheet and a suitable kit to do an acurate version that fought against the F4J on that mission.

any help really appreciated

Phil I think this decal sheet has just what you are looking for. I've bought from this guy several times and always been happy. But I bet you could find those decals from another place as well.

Never seen an ebay link look this way. Bob is this part of the new look?

Phil, I also recommend the seller above. As for the kit you'd need, it is the MiG-17F.

I have built the Hobbycraft kit when it came out. Not the most accurate but it was fun and it includes the decals you need:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-48-War-Eagle-Hobbycraft-MiG-17F-Russian-Jet-Fighter-MiG-17-/200913072327?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2ec75a30c7

I also built the Smer kit (molds were actually cut by a OEZ) and this version includes a fantastic decal sheet. However, while much more accurate than the Hobbycraft kit, details a clunky and the panel lines heavy:

The most accurate kit from what I've read is the Hobby Boss kit (but it may be another Chinese Piece Of Styrene?):

yep that's the kit i have on order, as long as it's not a GWH kit I shall try it.

First thanks goes to Ryan for that decal sheet, I emailed the online model shop I buy through out here and they can get that sheet in for me - BNA Modelworld - fantastic bunch of people to deal with each and every time, and promptly reply to any email you send them - anyone in Australia would be foolish not to try them!

Thanks to Saul for the info on the correct Mig variant and that seller / decal sheets, (y)
