1/48 Italeri 234/2 Puma

Hi everyone, I started this in November after my PanzerKampfwagen II; bascially its a Italeri 1/48 234/2 Puma build straight out of the box.

The only thing I added is the cast texture on the mantlet using Tamiya putty.

The build is relatively quick with no serious issues that would stop any modeler. You could google and read the reviews online.

The picture below is after priming using Mr Surfacer 1000.

I painted using Mr Hobby Dark Yellow as a base and then lighten certain parts according to my own interpretation of 'color modulation'.

And this is where I am as of last night; the mud on the wheels are done using Tamiya Weathering Sticks. I would need to apply more of it to the under-carriage. Thanks for reading.

I am quite satisfied with the progress as I think I have improved slightly from my previous build... :soldier

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and encouragement. I flat coated the vehicle last night and took some pictures which I will upload once I get back.

Moon puppy; yeah I did the 104 this year for a GB in another forum. You can check out my wip here

Cheers and have a nice day :)

The pictures are taken with my iPhone because my Olympus ZX-1 is loaned to my brudder-in-law and my other Olympus DSLR battery is flat..

The WIP is here.. so far no comments :P

The kit is build OOB and the only thing I added is cast iron texture on the gun mantlet using Tamiya putty and a stiff brush.

This is my first model using oil paint for filter wash and rust streaks. Pin wash is done using enamel as usual. OVE are painted using Vallejo acrylics and rust chips are done using sponge method. I am glad to not over-do the rust this time compared to my previous effort.

The mud on the wheels are done using Tamiya weathering sticks and water.

I really enjoyed the whole process with this Puma and I think I managed to improve on my previous attempt(PanzerKampfWagen II).

Thanks for looking; critiques are welcomed and appreciated.. :P

Well, I thought it was the 35th scale Italeri kit so you have done VERY well as many small scale modelers add weathering out of scale and this becomes the tell tale sign.

Regards,

Nice looking Puma you got there. I like the slight weathering over the whole vehicle, it sets off everything. Great job.

Thanks guys for the comments :v

During the chipping stage, I kept telling myself not to go overboard with the sponge chipping and keep the chips small; less is more.

If you ask me; the Tamiya weathering sticks are highly recommended. Just swipe it on the wheels and use a wet brush to adjust it and let it 'flow around' and dry. Awesome stuff!

I used 2 types of the stick to weather the wheels; "Mud" and "Light Earth" to give some variation to keep things non-conformal.

Thanks again everyone!
