1/24 scale Vietnam Figures

JamesOLeary

Master at Arms
After having tried working with a larger scale than my normal 1/35 scale, I seem to like working with 1/24 scale figures. This thread will be where I post what figures I am working on and then when they are used in a particular diorama or display, I will make a separate thread for those.

This first figure that I am going to show is a figure from Paracel Miniatures that was intended to be used as a crew member on a PBR. Kinda looks like CPT Willard from Apocalypse Now but wearing jungle fatigue trousers. Mine is going be an Infantryman drying out his feet while writing home. I plan on including other figures to make a diorama of guys drying out from the previous night and perhaps preparing for the current day's operations.

The figure is 3D Printed as one piece. That presented some painting challenges in the belt buckle area and upper thighs as the arms were in the way making accessing with the paint brush a bit difficult, so the painting of those areas isn't all that great. I am going to have to adjust some of my painting methods with these larger figures because my normal higher contrast style that I use with 1/35 scale figures isn't as compatible with the 1/24 scale figures.

There are a few things I need to touch up on this guy before he is totally finished, but I think he is pretty close to being done.

This is kind of how I envision this particular figure being positioned.

Thanks for looking.
