    M109 question

OK so trying to figure this one out On the M109 Doher kit there’s this neat little mantlet cover. But the kit part is made for the barrel being presented at a lower angle. When raised this canvas (?) bit would be folded/wrinkled, right? Can’t seem to find pics of it online…please help!

AFV M109A2 Doher Or how to Overcomplicate a Model!

Soooooo… I just can’t leave well enough alone! I could have gone with the resin pieces as shown I n those above pics. But truth is, they are actually for an earlier IDF M109. The version I’m building has a huge generator and also an equally large rear basket. At the same time, I Really liked...

AFV M109A2 Doher Or how to Overcomplicate a Model!

So with this I bought the Legend IDF M109 resin set. Here I have it ‘placed’ with tape to see how it looks. I think for the from turret bustles I’ll have to remove those lift rings (darn it. I really liked those) but overall it does make for a nice look. Whaddaya think?

AFV M109A2 Doher Or how to Overcomplicate a Model!

OK one last bit regarding detail. If you’ve built an AFV kit you know that the plastic is fairly brittle, especially when you consider the small size of the parts shown. Again there is a grain of rice as comparison and the final installed part. The detail is fantastic but as stated it comes as a...

AFV M109A2 Doher Or how to Overcomplicate a Model!

So now for an AFV rant. This kit has multiple sprues with the same Letter-Number!!! There are THREE separate letter series with this issue so wow do you ever spend a crap ton of time shifting thru sprues!

AFV M109A2 Doher Or how to Overcomplicate a Model!

The detail in this kit is ‘Off Da Chain’, if that’s your thing. To that end here’s a great example. You can see a series of pics showing the hinges on the turret side doors. One pic shows the hatch with only one hinge installed, then the hinge part along with a grain of rice, followed by how It...
