Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

I guess it would depend on how big a hurry or also if it was in any kind of a rebuild area where they were changing out engine, drivetrain, or main gun etc. In that case most of the tools etc would have been removed and not painted. So what is the story behind the build and markings. That...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Here are some goodies that I picked up for myself over the holidays. Part II of something James tweaked me on, and I agree it will be helpful once I set down and start working with the program. Then this which is explained in the photo. Then some figures for my BIG vehicles. Got these...

    Gap Filling with CA

If I do get a bit more than just a shiny spot on the top, I take one of the blue paper shop towels (or a piece of one and wipe it quickly. The blue shop towels don't usually leave any link unlike regular paper towels (yeah they are more expensive but there IS a good reason for that) The other...

    John Eaton has passed away

That is a very nice Obituary June. Goes to show how little we actually knew about all his endeavors. He did mention quite a number in passing during visits though it was usually to share some knowledge about a subject. Again we are so sorry for your loss.

    Gap Filling with CA

The biggest trick I found is something that will feed the crack in SMALL amounts. Too large an amount and it doesn't flow down in the crack, it flows out on the surface, and you have CA to clean off.

I got the kits in today and looked at the commander. I will get some photos in a little bit. He looks good though. I am sure much better than your recast.

GOOGLE MEET FOR MODELER'S ALLIANCE? Who is in?

Yeah I get that, I am a night owl just like my mom was and my daughter takes after me as well. Drives her husband a bit nuts at times, but it is what it is.

    Gap Filling with CA

I use the Bob Smith accelerant which has very little smell and I put it on directly (usually about a drop or less) with a tool and let it flow over the surface of the CA. I had another accelerant that smelled bad and had a tendency to make the CA overheat and foam up. Got rid of that years...

    Gap Filling with CA

I usually get the parts fit so the gap is minimal then mix a blend of thin and medium CA and using my trusty micro chisel applicator fill it in. At worse I end up with a tiny bit of CA on the surface edges that will clean off with a slight swipe of 1500 grit. What is nice is that it flows and...

    IDF Pereh ATGM tank destroyer

Yeah this is something I have been picking up from various places, is that the resins out there all have different properties. I guess the trick is to do diligence to find one that isn't brittle like untempered glass.

    Eduard 1/48 Wildcat F4F-4

I have a notebook on my bench that I use to show reference photos for when I scratch build details. Then I also use it for our Google meets like this Saturday.
