1/350 US Coast Guard Island class 110' Cutter. TLAR Models #425

I am well pleased with how the 1/350 Island class cutter molds cast. I went to work on the box art model right away. I'll give her a bath and spray the reefer gray primer yet tonight. The dome antenna mold from the 210' kit will be returned to service for the WPB kit as production goes...

The paddle wheel frame didn't cast too badly. The Indian 28-foot war canoe Master came out pretty nice as well. :hmm:

We know that every (1) Sternwheeler model kit begins with a plausible paddlewheel. SS Whitehorse' 1/700 paddlewheel hub measure .3 inches. SS Clifford Sifton lacks any deck plan drawing, but it follows that a 1/350 paddlewheel might be twice the size of the 1/700 unit. This hub is a hair...

1/350 US Coast Guard Island class 110' Cutter. TLAR Models #425

1/350 scale USCG Island class WPB major assemblies, Cape Island lobster boat, 25' MSB, and Mk. 38 cannon. The round mold contains my Dad's old 16' Larsen ski boat, the cutter's rescue boat and outboard, SATCOM domes, extra equipment lockers, and a few scale 55 gallon barrels. You always get...

I love the clothing from that era. Gentlemen and ladies were easily identifiable.

Welcome to a most eclectic group of model makers and plastic perusers! If you make tanks (You're welcome!) you will find yourself in very good company. To your dismay, you may find the red doors have been painted here, Sir! Do you belong to an IPMS Chapter? Whatcha workin' on now? Where do...

1/350 US Coast Guard Island class 110' Cutter. TLAR Models #425

CGC Knight Island in a well-lit daylight snap! Not near as much firefighting plumbing to do on her portside. I've got the hull pretty much the way I want it. It looks a mess now, bur she'll be much more pleasing to the eye when she's cast in cool gray LPP. I'm hoping the life raft...

A 1/350 project would make sense. 4.10 inches long X .8 inch beam would be manageable for a boat this size. :bm: Based on SS Whitehorse sales data, such a kit would seem less than popular.

Here's a dandy snap of CGC Orcas. Her afterdeck is a busy place, indeed! This will help with placement of details as the ship nears molding. No, I won't be making any bloody 1/350 Wheelie-bins. Orcas looks as if she is standing out to sea for a cruise of some length. (Credit to Military...

Well now, THAT is thought provoking! 120' X 24' beam. Hmm..... 2.057 inches length overall...... Hmm. .0411 inch beam. Hmm. Smaller than 1/700 SS Whitehorse by a bit. Hmm. Is there a broadside profile picture of the old Clifford Sifton, oh renter-of-space-in-head?

2025 Plastic Surgeons Meetings and Other Fun!

We did adverbs and prefixes today! A little girl sneezed and encroached upon my eyebrow. You could say I was encircled. Her laughter was endearing. SEE?! Happy now?

Mark and Donna welcome USS Cobia back to her Manitowoc berth. Her dock evolution was executed in a very efficient fashion. Yesterday at school, I gave Mr. Farrell, the science teacher my bit of sea glass. His lesson was about erosion, deposition and sediment transfer. Having a bit of...

Following a couple of palate-cleansing projects and lots of resin model favors, the 1/350 110-foot WPB waterline Master progresses without much fuss. I hope to get her to mold before Thanksgiving. :oldguy::salute:

Whitehorse only had the one smokestack, I wonder which boat this one is? It amazes me that these men piloted their stout, little boats up such narrow rapids.

Another TRIP IN AUSTRALIA -Tasmania July/ August 2025 Part 6 The End

Nah. There's vendor in Japan (Fairy Kikaku?) that casts in blue resin. He divides his ships into sections vertically like that. Hulls can be filled and sanded, but the wood decking seam is impossible! Nothing is more irritating than that! His models are unbuildable. I build all my own...
