Beauty & the beast. Irving & Beau.

Assembled the engines for the J1N1 and only placed on the wings. they are quite a bit smaller than the Hercules engines on the Beau. Painted the gray one the Beau and did some paint chipping and the gear is down and locked. Gary S.

Beauty & the beast. Irving & Beau.

This AM, I did the rust treatment on the J1N1 by painting a brown artist oil over a black base coat. While the oil paint was still wet, I "painted" or dusted rust colored pastels. Yesterday the J1N1 was first sprayed a mixture of dark green on the underside first. Then the smaller parts were...

While I was lining up the strike camera on the end of the nose, I noticed that at some point, the ram air scoop in front of the wind shield had popped off to who knows where. 😕 Also I added the whisker antennas using straight pins. Gary S.

Beauty & the beast. Irving & Beau.

Painted the white for the invasion stripes with a rattle can. Removed the trim tab actuators from the upper horizontal stabs and attached some photo etch that wasn't used from my Val model. Also removed the wedge shape from the crew access door. The nacelle parts for the Irving fit beautiful...

Got the wings on both models. The fit on the Beau is near perfect and the fit on the Irving is perfect. This is the best fitting model I've ever done. Gary S.

I made blast tubes from 18g needles. The fit of the fuselage was good with minor clean up and a little crazy glue. Wings went together every well. Going to clean them up before attaching to fuselage. I decided to button up the crew access doors. Nothing to see anyway. Thanks for looking, Gary S.

One of the things I didn't like about was the gun troughs and it made me hesitate to start it. This AM I managed to drill them out. Since the seats were nothing to write home about, along with the cockpit, I decided to include the crew with a few modifications. Gary S.

Beauty & the beast. Irving & Beau.

The cockpit on the J1N1 is complete. Not including the guns and mount, there are over 25 parts. The most detailed cockpit OOB I've ever done and added to that all the different colors. The cockpit on the Beau seems a little basic conspired which is almost done. The Beau looks a little portly...
