The 5th SS~Panzer Regiment was raised out of Scandinavian Anticommunists and from other parts of Europe. As the spearhead of the 5th SS Division Wiking armed with the formidable Panther Tank, rank among the most Elite of the Waffen SS Divisions. The Author served in the Division and became Kampfgruppe Kommander. There were 14 Knights Cross holders clashing in battles in the East. This book is written from the Men that were there. In the Belly of the Beast slugging it out with the Soviets through the Ukraine, Caucuses, near Karkov  and in the Tscherkassy pocket! They destroyed a Soviet Tank Division in Warsaw & tried unsuccessfully to defend Budapest, with the survivors surrendering to the Americans in Austria in May 1945.
Battle field maps and photos from members of the Division are all through the book giving you a clear look at the Battlefield & putting the faces with the names from this auspicious and highly decorated SS Panzer Division.

The exploits are written from the Authors point of view as well as others that were in the division giving you a very detailed and “in your face” commentary that keep you on the edge of your seat!  With very little in print on the final days on the Eastern Front especially on the events that took place in Hungry and Czechoslovakia this book answers many of the question on this key Division.
This book clocks in at 474 pages with dozens of maps & photographs. A  must have for any German Armor historian or modeler wanting to learn more of what happened on the Eastern Front in this Highly decorated Division.
