2025 Plastic Surgeons Meetings and Other Fun!

So, it turns out, The 1/700 Casablanca class US Navy CVE kit does, in fact exist. Shipping from Hong Kong was speedier than expected. The tooling appears crisp and has almost no flash. At $46.86 plus .84 cents in shipping, this kit was $70.00 less than a previous, similar Chinese release.

I read William T. Y'Blood's "The Little Giants. U.S. Escort Carriers Against Japan" sometime ago. A gripping and often humorous tale of the exploits of more than a few of the 50 Casablanca class CVE's that fought in the Pacific. I read it so often I had to buy a second copy!
Page 3-4 has copies of Ham Lokey's poems.
On Page 13, the story of the day the USS West Virginia surrendered to the USS Natoma Bay begins.

A brass re-supply order was made. The same seller had this little gunboat for sale for almost nothing.
Not truly a Gundalow, but the lines of Benedict Arnold's Philadelphia can be readily seen. The little plastic shipping box has no end of interesting uses!

Club meeting coming up! Thanks for looking in!

The Hot Wheels wheels came. 11 & 13mm wheels are a little oversized for the Rapid Rabbit of Caelbannog.
So, do you imagine I'm shopping for smaller wheels of building a bigger bunny?
:bash:

20250317_014927.jpg
Not quite. Still to small for zoomie pipes.
20250317_033051.jpg20250317_033637.jpg20250317_085612.jpg
Better! I may be deranged, but I'm including, long wavy Jack Rabbit ears, zoomie pipes and a blown Hemi.
Injection is nice, but I'd much rather be blown. "I told ye! I told ye, but ye dinna listen! That's no ordinary Rabbit!"

A Satisfying day at tlarmodels.com
All these listings are posted, save the Tamiya Matilda. The decals were missing. Tamiya USA is working on finding me a set to buy.
I am just blown away by what models sell for anymore! Holy Bukkits! The Tamiya 1/35 M-24 is the Italeri tooling in a Tamiya box. $96.00 + shipping! YIKE!
Thanks for looking in!

The molds look promising! The clay Master deformed during demold, but you'll have that with that medium.
First Casting in a few hours!
I get all whipped up about casting a new mold for the first time!
I'm planning to add an RTV overflow wall to the top of the "Strike From The Sea" 2-part aircraft mold.
Thanks for being part of the TLAR Fun!!

Ok, since this had to modeled and cast, All of my M/A Brethren get a chance to help name the TLAR kit.
So far I have:
"The Rapid Rabbit of Caelbannorh" the original title
"Wild Hare"
"Hi-Jack-er"
"The Black Rabbit of Eddyville"
"Bunny-Be-Gone"
"Multiplier"
"Wun U Wascally Wabbit"
"Super Rabbit" after the B-17G
"Twack Wabbit"
"WTFWT?!"
"Bunny Blower", like the Bentley Blower. Thanks Paddy!
"Buggs Blows By"
"Wee Bonny Bunny"

Francisco submits, without one drop of Rum:
"Bunnyville Bullet"
"The Turtle-nator" Hmm...........
"Bugg's Diesel"

Greg Metzger submits:
"Peter Hoppin' Tail"
"Crouching Rabbit, Hidden Tiger"

Mark Karolus:
"Thumper" which could easily lead to "Thumperburg Express", maybe?

If Carl Musselman and I were still friends, he would have been really good at this!

I Invite your input or vote! Have couple of stout dwinkies and submit your ideas!

In other news,
20250318_174904.jpg
1 more 55 gallon drum casting and the 1/72 scale fuel drum set mold RTV can be poured!

I designed the faux 426 Hemi for the Universal hull kit. It was WAY too much for the Hot Wheels rabbit. Quite a lot of grinding and filing saw the hemi reduced to the blower. Not that bunny grinding isn't fun.

The more I look at this, the blower seems like a dumb idea. Maybe zoomie pipes and long wavy jackrabbit ears are enough?
I have put this issue before the TLAR Models board of directors. A vote is being taken.
Now, maybe if I made a Top-fuel style spoiler and added a parachute pack......................:silly:
A pair of 1/350 jet engines..................................:blink

I really need to get back to my for-real day job.

I still say, ONE LARGE PIPE under the cotton ball :P

Parachute pack on back instead of blower...

Test fit: Blower only. Not SO bad. Still cartoonishly oversized, but that's the object, is it not?
I was gonna give up on this dumb project but 3 other model maniacs have expressed the lack of ability to continue Life without this goofy, damn model. More 1/64 Cragar S/S wheel sets are on the way.

Kit contents and nameplate decals. I tried to make license plates but couldn't figure out how to format the background color properly.
And the linkie! See, 'Pup!
Stay tuned as this enthralling story from Bunnyville unfolds!

Ears, zoomies and test fit of wheels. I need to make digits for the front paws so THE TURTLE-NATOR can grip the front axle.
Some additional paint and signature TLAR cigar are still needed.
Against all odds, I have sold 2 of these kits already. WHODDATHUNKIT!?

I hope Alclad chrome will adhere to flat black paint. We will know for sure tomorrow!
Now, where did I put my Mother's pills? Hello, Alice?
