    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

After the fourth build session the construction is as complete as it will be prior to hitting the paint booth. Hoping to prime the Panther today, after which it can sit for a few days to let the primer cure. I'm going to leave two hatches open for some figures. Here are some pix:

    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

Hi Ron, The kit gives you options for dinged up toolboxes, I opted to only use the right one. Clearly, it was a bad job at parallel parking. The toolboxes are molded from the soft DS material, same as the tracks. - Mika

    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

Dear Diary. Day three of the build, and while I appreciate Dragon having added the zimmerit to the kit, I wish some compensation had been made to the bits that must be added to the hull. I've assembled the rear plate, and majority of the engine deck. I've deviated a bit from the sequence to...

    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

Day two was short, but productive still. I figured out that I had installed the two fan units in the engine compartment backwards, so I popped them out and glued in the correct positions and voila! the back plate fits without the gap. Sometimes, it makes sense to read the instructions.

    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

Day one draws to a close. After several films and several ( ;) ) beers sees the lower hull done. Ah, roadwheels! Can there be anything more tedious? Test fitting the upper hull shows about an 1/8" gap at the rear between the engine deck and rear plate. Time to pontificate how to fix that...

    Dragon 1/35 Panther G w/ Zimmerit

Alright - I think there's time to finish this group build even with my glacial pace. Here's my entry: - Mika

    Cyberhobby Bf-110D 1/48

Thanks for the comments, everyone. For the gunmetal, I use a base of Citadel's Boltgun Metal, and mix it with some semigloss black to give a bit of variation. Finally, it gets a wash of thin Lamp Black oil paint.

    Cyberhobby Bf-110D 1/48

Little more progress. The interior is about done, need to hit it with dullcoat to take the shine off of the etch, and perhaps dribble a little more washes about to break up the monotone gray. After that, it'll be time to seal up the fuselage and start sticking parts together on the outside...

    Cyberhobby Bf-110D 1/48

OK, I've been sadly lacking in modeling mojo lately so the build is progressing quite slowly. After two sessions, here's what I've managed to accomplish: Cockpit starting to come together (I do like Eduard zoom sets!) Sidewalls painted up: Next step is to add the rest of the seatbelts...

    Cyberhobby Bf-110D 1/48

Update from first night of building The fuselage is nice, decent enough detail on sidewalls: Other bits assembled, about to be primed (I prime all of my plastic before painting): Then there's this - the downside to kits broken down to accommodate multiple variants is something that seems to...

    Cyberhobby Bf-110D 1/48

OK ... first post, just to keep me honest. Add-ins to the kit are Eduard Zoom for the interior (because I can't paint instrument panels worth beans), and on Quickboost firewall (the other will go into another Bf 110) to allow panels to be left off. Hoping this will pop out some colors to break...

OK - I'll play along with my Academy Ontos. I'll post the unstarted pic this weekend. With topic of 'Vietnam' is it also allowable for French Indochina topics? I'd like to do a Chaffee at Dien Bien Phu. - Mika

So, what do you do for a living?

Let's see ... after high school, I assembled computers. After that gig, I went to work at the local govt doing IT support. A cross country relocation, and some 15 years of writing software for a number of companies, I've ended up doing Software Asset Management and software license compliance...

    Cheers, everyone!

Howdy all ... I'm Mika Harviala, Finnish ex-pat and current resident of North Carolina, USA. I'm a member of IPMS Eagle Squadron, and a self-professed desecrator of plastic. While I build just about anything, it seems that about the only things I actually manage to finish are WW2 armor...
