Question of Curiosity - Airbrushes

So when I was over at MP's the other day, he was showing off Airbrushed like I show off firearms, had some nice ones! got me thinking, and the reason for this, what type of Airbush(es) do you have, and why do you choose that particular one?

I just have a little Paasche double-action with Siphone feed and it is all I need, but curious as to "What y'all are packin'."

Badger house here...Sotar 2020 that was won in a contest at Swanny's.
Badger 3155 hybrid, rarely use now because siphon feed.
Badger Velocity Renegade. LOVE IT, my primary tool.
Chinese knock off of Badger 350, used it a couple of times, waste of $5.00.

I should get another.

I only have five now (gave two away) so these are the survivors, in alphabetical order:

Badger Patriot Model 105
Badger Velocity Renegade R1
Iwata HP-C
Paasche H1 (my oldest)
Testors Modelmaster (Aztek airbrush will all the interchangeable tips and cleaning station)

Each has its uses. I keep one for water base and another for solvent. A third for metal, fourth for special effects, and the last for fine work (usually with inks).

I'm a beginner, I just bought my first at 48. it's a Paache H, single action, external mix. I love it. Gotta show it to Mom as she is a craft queen.

I have 3 air brushes,...

all not anywhere near the named brushes that you lot have

I have one that I used for overall baselaying that was given to me when a beauty salon folded and was used to spray tan ladies

I have one that i got free with the compressor i recently got and its quite good for a cheapo

Bob reminds me of me, in that I have a special order Kimber Bolt-Rifle in .270 is so darn pretty, I only bring out for special occasions. As with Andy, I too am modeling on a budget...I don't even have a man-cave, I am relegated to the kitchen table!

One thing Bob did that I found particularly humoroues was to start to hand me his $5 Chinese airbrush, and just before I touched it he said "Only one of my airbrushes you'll touch here......" :pp

But I am an el cheapo modeler, but I don't mind spending 20 bucks here and there for stock, gotta have your tools and materials!

Mats, I tell ya, once you go with a gravity feed you'll never go back. The cleanup time alone is enough to make the switch! :woohoo:

I've got a Paasche VL (double action siphon feed) and it does all I ask of it. I actually prefer the heft and clunkier action to some of the others I have tried. I am really looking hard at the renegade or krome though as the gravity feed is really appealing to me more and more.

I am really looking hard at the renegade or krome though as the gravity feed is really appealing to me more and more.

As a person who has handled both (I use a Velocity, my buddy Iain, the Krome) I would do my best to steer you towards the Krome, which for all intents and purposes was Badger basically updating and improving on the Renegade Velocity.

It has much smoother and more precise feel to it.

Tempted...waiting for a report on the Patriot.

One thing I do not like about the Renegade is you have to remove the handle remove the needle. I see on the Krome that's not the case. Cool...

I switched over to the Iwata Eclipse a couple years ago, I really like it! I also have a Badger Anthem, a Paasche single action and two antique Binks single action siphon feeds. The gravity feed is FAR superior and I can't imagine ever going back. Now, if I only had some talent.....

I have a Aztec A470 with all the bell's an whistles an sofar I have mixed feeling's about it.
Also a el-cheepo gravity feed (simular to a Badger) that work's like a charm.
