I watched this for the first time nearly a decade ago and still think it is the best animation drawn with digital ink. A great concept and just flat out entertaining to modellers and WW2 military enthusiasts.

Plenty of real WWI and replicas in this 1930 Howard Hughes movie: Hell's Angels.
- Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" (mocked up to resemble an Avro 504K
- Sopwith Snipe (two but unflyable))
- Sikorsky S-29-A (mocked up to resemble a German Gotha bomber)
- Fokker D.VII
- Thomas Morse S-4C Scout (mocked up to resemble Sopwith Camel)
- Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a
- Travel Air 2000 (mocked to look like a Fokker D.VII as the production only found 7 WWI planes)
- Zeppelin R Class (model whose footage appears in other films as well)
I remember seeing that years ago. Still think when the guy threw his landing gear at ya might be best to just give him his space and break off.

I thought you might like to see this as most of the aircraft are exclusive and not seen on the overseas airshow circuit.
Turn the volume up once they start flying as these old engines are a musical sound track after 3.30 mins
Stick with it if these sorts of aircraft float your boat, i really must make the effort to go back here, its not far away and shows are every 2 weeks during the summer

Wow, that's not even a mounted weapon. I mean talk about the advancement of technology with these drones yet early ww1 windage is knocking them out.

There something about seeing the setting sun reflect off the surfaces of the Dr1 in flight. Not to mention Wagner
This fokker just sounds like more stable engine.
Yeah when I learned (relatively recently) the motor turned on the crank. Who would have come up with that?!

Then there was an engine made by Siemens-Halske ShIII eleven cylinder engine where the crankcase rotated one direction and the crankshaft rotated the other direction. It had big bevel gears to keep everything in line and produced a lot more power.

It was used on the Siemens Schuckert D IV with a 4 bladed prop. It could out climb anything, but came out too late to have any impact.

Really good to see as the Shuttleworth trust Hawker Hind has iits first engine run for 11 years.
Note how if you forget the top wing how much it lends to the Hurricane a few years later.
Also note half way through the video the propeller stops and then starts again and goes the other way.
Of course its just a clash of RPM of the engine and Frame rate of the video but it made me smile as on my rubber band powered model aircraft this would happen as the rubber unwound and started to wind up the other way again

The Shuttleworth Hawker Demon was bought by Kermit Weeks of Fantasy of Flight:
He has been providing videos of the re-assembly and will fly over Florida!

You can say the same thing about the Grumman F3F and F4F Wildcat.
