That said, we generally have to travel further when we go somewhere Paddy .
Thats very true :) I f i went 30 miles south i would fall into the English Channel, 100 miles east and i would in the North sea...
I could do about 200 West before i fell into the Atlantic., North not so bad, about 500 miles and i would swimming towards the Artic :)

@paddy , it took me 13 hours of driving at approximately 70 miles an hour (113Kph) to get from Memphis TN to Secaucus NJ. It takes about 6 1/2 hours (442mi / 711Km) to go visit my daughter just south of Tulsa OK. To visit my brother in Kansas City is about a 10 hour drive again at 70ish. Heck it takes a bit over 8 hours to drive from Memphis TN to Knoxville TN and that is all in the same state.

My brother lives 150 miles away, i try and make the journey once a year :)....that said i have still clocked 150,000 miles in the car so far.

Hey Tim! Good news is they can access that from simply opening the hood. There are other parts that require it to go on a lift, and pulled from underneath. Just be thankful it’s not a hybrid model!
Yeah. The fix was the limit for the in car engine work according to Porsche. 15 hrs labor cost. He was just glad I didn't ignore the check engine light. Said it would have been much worse.

Funny what thread takes off around here.

I've been really missing my old square body chevy especially considering @errains told me it was spotted in the wild where he moved to. Poor ol' Eric can't get away from my sphere of friends and acquaintances.

The Germans make great products but as an example, while in Germany I dropped a valve in my Supper Beetle . They wanted to replace engine. My cost for repair ( by myself ) $50 . Another time ,I had a German Ford that needed a U joint . Shop " replace drive shaft with reconditioned item " . Cure, got one at a junk yard for a song and dance . Just saying  I was at a friend's stereo shop a couple years ago. A customer called in about problems with the stereo in his BMW , Greg suggested " replacing car " . Considering these people sell and service audio equipment, that got my attention .
Still trying to get my act together here Bob

Very thankful that we had ration cards to get reasonably priced fuel when we were in Germany . That made things affordable . When I took a vacation there, we used the heck out of the train service. Very convenient and very fast for a reasonable cost. Comfortable and the onboard food was very good. Hard to beat that way to travel.
