Porsche owning...🫣🫡🙃

The wife's Cayenne suffered a water pump failure. However, it also affects the the vacuum system, which becomes the real problem. Of course it's a Porsche dealer only fix, that's fine with me though, as I trust they're mechanics on these cars. I mean when I notice the tech talking to me has the Porsche emblem tattooed on his arm I feel more confident. Plus I tried to go the cheap route with the rear brake pad replacement on it at a regular shop, that turned into a bit of a nightmare. I'm just glad we have such a great local dealership. Super nice folks and truly love the cars they sell and maintain. However you're gonna pay to play!

Guess we're both getting a lump of coal for Christmas...haha.

Yeah but she's worth it right? Your Bride I mean....

I did a service call at a Porsche dealer in Charleston years ago. First thing that struck me was you could eat off the floors. This from a guy who grew up going to auto shops you could see the floors for the parts, tools and garbage laying around. Then I saw the tech pulling the transaxle or something out of a 911 type car. He had a huge book (I'm sure they have tablets now) that read better than a Wing Nut Wing instruction manual. Called out what bolt size and how many to drop before dropping mount point or whatever it was. It was amazing.

I am currently trying to decide on a Macan.....
My local garage can handle any repairs but he says think a minimum of double the cost of my Audi for like for like repairs, Nearly all that cost is labour much like yours.
Its odd because a Macan is basically an Audi Q5 and a Cheyanne is a Q7.
obviously there are differences but its always worth comparing prices for Porsche/audi/VW ....for example most of the parts are bought in, for my Audi a Ford rear axel was £1000 cheaper than the identical Audi job. all made by the same warner Co in Germany
Bottom line is most of your bill is labour and over hear you would be a very rich man to use a Porsche dealer for repairs given its basically an Audi.
My local guy says if you have to consider the cost of repair then you probably shouldn't buy one but then when i bought my Audi 15 years ago new the dealer said to me never never never keep an Audi outside of its warranty period and here i am at 150,000 miles and 15 years later and its great :).

That's funny, my wife has a friend who had Q5 that absolutely fell apart when warranty expired. I told her it's the burn down chip that's timed to the warranty.

We're happy in our Toyotas in this house. I drive the Tundra and lately I've been getting upwards of 19 and even 20 MPG, not bad for using all 8 cylinders in this truck.

Our dealership is no different. The place is immaculate. Even the restrooms are elevated. Everyone that works there seems to love their job. It's been a pleasant experience everytime I go. This time I got to watch them move a 300 thousand dollar Carrera 911 out of the show room for a photo shoot. It sounded awesome!

We have an Audi A5 with almost 120k on it. My "truck" is a Toyota FJ. It has over 200k.

My wife likes the Macans. We have a 2011 Audi A 5 Quattro. It has close to 120k miles. Besides the normal things like battery and brake pads the only issue it's had was the alternator, which I was able to replace myself. It was right in front and on top. Plus the 2011 didn't need to be programmed. My wife actually prefers it to the Porsche.

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla S with 157k miles that I do the maintenance and oil changes on myself. Then I have the 2012 Toyota Sienna that now has 155k miles. I did most of the hand work to repair the front when a damn deer ran in front of it on the highway. Do my own oil changes on it as well. Think it is about due for some front struts and will look into doing those myself as well if my super fancy strut compressor (that I bought years ago) will fit the struts.
Have decided that if I ever came into some money I would get a Lexus. Anything European I would probably resell if it came to me free.

My brother has an FJ with over 250k and he wont sell it. It is his second one as the first was totaled due to an idiot.
Ours is jacked up to the moon. It was that way when we got it.

Might as well use all eight . You bought them all .. ..

Not going to say much about German cars . The US versions are much different than the ones found in Europe. Even the Beetles were like that . Great engineering , wonderful performance but darn it when they brake down. Usually have to take their cars half apart to fix anything . Crazy expensive parts and labor is out of this world . The tecs are well trained but they all think alike..... You don't have to buy a new wheel because you're missing a lug nut. Just my rant on that topic. I'll stick with my Hondas . Only need another spoon of rice to keep it going !
