OK, here be the rules and the ribbons.
For the Japanese we have this ribbon:
For the United States forces there is this ribbon:
These ribbons are specifically for the date Dec 7, 1941. Correct markings apply, any scale, Ohahu Island or the Japanese fleet.
Then for the adventurous folks that are into torturous projects, here is a special. This is for LARGE SCALE 1/350 or larger Arizona kits "WITH" aftermarket. Read that as photo etch details with railings, brass gun barrels, brass propellors. The railings are a must! The rest of the parts can be at builder discretion. A full tilt build. There is a year to build it.
Addendum for the LARGE SCALE Arizona only:
As this ribbon is specifically for the Arizona ONLY, and after a question and a little thought, this ribbon is opened up slightly to allow the Arizona to be built in any of the configurations she had through her lifetime. Thus remembering all who served aboard her. Scales remain the same, 1/350 or larger, some Aftermarket, all railings required. If someone wants to build an earlier version with cage masts and the 5 inch guns in the hull. Go fo it. Still only have a year, ends Dec 7, 2016 at 11:59 PM.

Now I've also found a Marine SBD-1 kit...with correct markings for Ewa based aircraft. :hmmm
2106 is tricky, as I can't find the late '41 decals in 1/48. I can find them in the early bright scheme (up to mid '41) and after the aircraft transferred to the Marine wing (for Midway, mid '42). I can get the correct decals in 1/32...but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money for base kit. Not to mention it's a bigger scale than I prefer.
So I might be leaning toward the Marine bird...

...and back to USN. I found a decal sheet for VS-6 off the Enterprise. So I can use the better (and cheaper) Academy/Accurate Miniatures kit. Overall cost will be slightly higher due to -3 upgrade parts (engine, cockpit details, decals), but I'll save a little money on paints and the kit. But more importantly I like the blue/grey scheme a lot more than the plain overall grey scheme used on the early -1 Marine aircraft.
And according to the decal sheet, the -3 had an A-A Zero kill during the battle. Though I'm still looking for other information confirming that claim.

Found some info backing up what I saw listed on the sheet for 6-S-4 (BuNo 4570). B)

6-S-4 was later shot down. Gunner (RM1c William C. Miller) KIA. Pilot (LT C. E. Dickinson Jr.) bailed, returned to Ewa, got into another plane & returned to the battle.

Back from vacation, and ready to tackle two more ribbons (the big Arizona is too rich for my blood).
For the Japanese Ribbon, I will be building an Aichi D3A1 "Val" based on the carrier Zuikaku and flown by Akira Sakamoto in the first wave of attack, actually dropping the first bomb of the pacific war.
For the american Ribbon, I wanted to build an F4F Wildcat from the VF-6 based on the USS Enterprise. Since the carrier only arrived back at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 8th, does it count? Please advise.

The Enterprise may not have been in dock during Pearl, she was most certainly in the area. Her Air Wing was deployed trying to locate the carriers the Japanese aircraft came from. VF-6 played a prominent role in escorting the attack/scout aircraft of VB-6 & VS-6.

Helios, many thanks for the Information. I knew that the Lucky-E was "lucky" by having gone to sea shortly before the attack, I did not know she had launched her planes to try and attack the Japanese fleet.
In honor of those fallen, I will assemble one of the aircraft of the list you have kindly provided.

It was fun, very hot but also very rainy (this is an "El Nino" year, lots of rain). It was a challenge to travel with our son (first trip on a plane, he is only 15 months old) but he loved the beach, the sea and all the fun. Now it is back to business and getting geared up for the new lessons in modelling. Those seam lines have to be dealt with!
