We've lost another brother

RIP Wild Bill :zen

Been to Toccoa GA several times, there's a Milliken plant at the site of the old camp now. The only building left standing is the old chow hall. Camp Toccoa was so small, those guys had to march 30 miles to Clemson SC to practice at the rifle range, Clemson at the time was a Military College. We really need to road trip to the Museum there. :hmmm

Godspeed, Wild Bill.

We went past that Toccoa camp on the way to one of the shows, as I recall, wasn't that far away.

Well yes, we went by the sign on the interstate, it would have been about 20 miles up the road. Think we may have an agenda for next road trip.

I think it would be appropriate to note other vets who have passed.

Just saw news that Maj. James Goodson passed at the age of 93. He was an Eagle Squadron Vet as well as the 4th FG.

Bummer. :(
I said "Oh no!" out loud when I saw this.
I'm sorry for his loss and for my inability to offer an adequate and fitting eulogy.
Thanks to him and to all his brothers in arms who served and died, and fought the good fight.
May he and all our servicemen and women who serve never be forgotten.

Sincerly.

Bill

The "greatest genedration" will soon be gone. The youngest are in their late 80's.

It is difficult to believe that within a generation or two at the most, these heroes will be looked upon as ancient history, if anything is said about them in the history books.

My students have not clue #1 about what went onm in the 20th Century... WW1? 2? Korea? Vietnam? These are the future leaders of our country and the world... totaly ignorant of the past and unwilling to think of anything beyond today's recreation.

RIP all who served their country.

We have just had ANZAC day in Australia - to celebrate all who served no matter where and when. Touching ceremony, every year less and less veterans with us but rather in a better place.

History is a funny thing ..... if you don't learn from it, it comes back to haunt you. It's a shame that nowadays the younger generation know everything about facebook, twitter, Justin BIeber and not a darn thing about the past, even their own family. Worrying .....
