Valentine Mk II

Saul has been kind enough to send me some replacement parts (a whole kit I believe) and so in the mean time I robbed my MkI in order to carry on.

James, indeed I am sending a complete Mk I to replace the kit you're using. I also tossed in a Tamiya T-62 and the turret from Trumpeter's 05541 IT-1 Missile tank for your museum display. So you know how this works. I had the Tamiya T-62 with a Chesapeake Model Designs turret in the stash. Trumpeter comes out with a nice new kit but the CMD turret is nicer. Trumpeter's T-62 turret is in the Tamiya box then. Trumpeter announces an IT-1 and I get the idea to buy and review the kit, swap Trumpeter turrets and voila! Now, there is a Tamiya T-62 kit with a Trumpeter IT-1 turret!

Saul WOWSERS :yipee
I have tackled a bit of the running ear. Man is it intricate. They have made it modular though and I think an awesome feat of engineering. Pics tomorrow I hope.

Great to see you back at it James!
Thanks Saul for helping out :) that's what i love about MA!!

Okay, just 1 pic. I finished off the running gear this morning. I hope the shafts will support the weight of Fruil tracks. Very intricate and very delicate. And fully articulating. The plastic springs are amazing.

That looks really cool James!! I like the look of it. I've been thinking about doing one of these so I will be following along.

Cool stuff, James! Glad to see someone making progress at the bench, I'm sure not! (y)

Thanks Terry. It was Saul's acquisition of one that really piqued my interest and on a spur of the moment I bought them. Now I am very excited with this kit. Some of the construction is fiddly and difficult, but it makes it even more fun when I'm done. The running gear is just incredible, but I'm glad it is finished. Tomorrow can start on the mud guards.

On The Road Again (y)

You seem to be in a different frame of mind the last few days James. :D

Yep that sounds like AFV, but boy is the detail great. Are the road wheel assemblies workable?

I bet the shaft will be fine, having multiple shafts will distribute the weight around, just like they did it in real life. Great work James! :soldier

Wow, I was about to ask about the tracks when I looked at your post in the Latest Acquisitions thread and some some Friulmodel. I got the separate AFV Club set for mine for the same fear you have about breaking axles...

Regards,

I got a set also Saul. But I tried putting some together (the spares you get in the kit) and I'm not thrilled. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but they wouldnt stay together. Fruil will though. Will let you know how they work. Need some more plastic track by the way?

Hi James, Great job on this one (y) (y) I think this is the frist build I've seen on this so will watching closely, I really want to give this one a try.

Thanks Randy. Appreciate it. This is a very cool tank. Very well engineered, but very fiddly also.

Well not much progress, but some. Think its time I prime the lower hull and paint before I put sand shields and other stuff on.

I guess if I prime and paint the lower hull I should also prime and paint the turret.
