Ogden Air Logistics Complex and Lockheed Martin are rebuilding F-35 AF-211. It suffered a nose landing gear incident in 2020 severely damaging the nose section. An undamaged nose section is being used from AF-27 which suffered a severe engine fire in 2014 and was being use for Battle Damage Repair training at Hill AFB since. A feasibility study began in 2020 with completion scheduled for March 2025.

A similar F-22 rebuild program saw an aircraft damaged in a 2018 take-off accident return to flight in May 2023.

Cheers,
