Two Armor Completed by the Duke

Duke Maddog

Well-known member
These are two of the three models I completed this week. The first one is IBG's 1/72 scale Diamond T cargo truck. It was a tough build but looks pretty good when finished. I painted this with Testor's Model Master colors and weathered it with Tamiya weathering powders I'd found when cleaning my desk some time back. I had them; I figured I might as well use them.

The weathering doesn't show too well in these pics, but here she is ready for the shelf:

And a shot of the cargo bed:

The next model I finished was the Trumpeter T-54B tank. I added the machine gun on top, painted this with Testor's Model Master paints and weathered with the Tamiya weathering powders as well. Here she is; the weathering showing up slightly better in these pics:

Well, that's all I have for today. These two bring me up to 677 completed small scale vehicles. Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.

Thanks you very much guys, you are all very kind. I am pretty pleased with how these turned out. Oh and Luiz, it's "Mark"... Mike was my brother who passed away 25 years ago. That's cool though!

Thanks again everyone for the inspiring compliments!

Thanks Gerry! I tried to edit the pics to show the weathering better, but was not that successful. Gonna need some better backgrounds for these pics.

Yeah, 677 completed vehicles. I'm not sure what I'll do when I get to 1000; maybe pout them all together on a table and take another pic; then start on number 1001. My next goal is to get to 700 and then I'll shoot a complete group pic showing the entire collection all together. Just 23 more to go!

Nice ones. Armor scares the hell out of me. I don't know that I could get the weathering to my liking. You all make it look easy. B)

Thanks guys! Your compliments mean a lot to me.

Helios, weathering armor is actually a lot simpler than it looks. I used to be scared of weathering it as well, and sometimes I thought I did a really bad job on it. Amazingly enough, two of the models I thought I weathered badly actually took awards at some contests! No, it's easier than you think; just get an old armor model; or build a cheap one and use it as a mule to practice. You'll get it! If you can build those fantastic 1/32 scale helicopters, you can weather a tank! (y)

Duke. those are some really nice looking pieces. I was wondering where you went too, cause you kind of disappeared after the IPMS Nationals. I see you brought home some hardware. My congrats on that. You have done a good job on those armor pieces. Best wishes and Happy New Year.

Dave, I actually did come back to the Forums fairly quickly after the Nationals; you can see my posts on the "What's on your Workbench?" Thread going back to mid August. I was gone from the first week of July till the middle of August with a small break in between; that is because in July I went to Disney World in Orlando with my wife for our anniversary. Then I was home for three days and then went to Columbus for the Nationals and afterward the Irish Festival in Dublin Ohio. Came home the second week of August and went right to the workbench.

Thanks again guys!

You keep amazing me :woohoo:
You really make these small thingies look like 1/35, compliments !
I learned that most stand-alone vehicles look better against a black background ?

Thank you Willem! You are very kind. I'm also thinking a dark grey for the background as well. I might try and shoot some additional pics of these to see what works best.

Thanks again for the great compliment!
