The things you see

The things you see without a camera. Driving home by AETE today and saw a P-51 and a Sabre and me without my camera. Hope they are there tomorrow (if I'm not still sick) on my way by so I can snap some pics. Believe it was this Mustang.

I think it was this Sabre.

They in town for a show?

That's a cool looking Sabre scheme...:hmmm Notice the NMF intake and leading edges.

Yup...was at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk near the Naval Yards and saw what seemed like a mini-Hawkeye?? What is a smaller plane with the radar dishes on top? Then we were back at the condo in the pool and two Ospreys fly over...

Dont know why they are in although the yellow Sabre is usually a target. Wish I had known earlier so I could get some pics. We've had Chuck Yeager fly his P-51 in before also. No shows happening that I know of.

Met him once for a very very short time. Met Johnny Johnson in St Croix Sur Mer when we commemorated an allied airfield. Almost got to have lunch with Bubbi Hartmann, but my wife talked me out of going. Kicking myself ever since. A good friend of the family used to chat with me all the time when I was little. He was in REME and tried to turn me off the military by talking about tank recoveries after battles. Best advice he gave me was never sleep under my tank after having to exhume the bodies of several Churchill crews whose vehicles had sunk in the mud during the night with the crews still under them. He was very sad when I went Armoured Recce. Never saw him after to tell him I was in the Air force.
