Tamiya U.S. Modern Army Infantry 1985 release?

My buddy is building a M1 Abrams tank I gave him. He's wondering if the Tamiya 35133 set of U.S. Modern Army Infantry (released in 1985) can be use in a Gulf War 1 (1991) setting? How about Gulf War 2?
