Does anyone have any tips on removing the air piston? Mine's gotten some gunk down in it and I need to free it up. Are any specific tools needed? I've done some searching, but the finer points elude me. Thanks!

EDIT: I broke it down and swabbed it out with acetone, as per Iwata's recommendation. Amazing the amounts of paint that can accumulate in unseen areas! All is well and better that it has been in a while. Tested it by doing some posting shading on the Me410's gear doors and such. Onward- ever onward!

Thanks, Bob- We're on the way home (through some nasty turbulence) and I'll be checking into it soon. It'll probably be fine- I just don't want to ruin any o-rings or such as I disassemble it.

now look what one finds when searching for something completely different!

i know the problem is solved already but for the future do yourself a favour and buy the "createx airbrush restorer"! that stuff works magic!

disassemble your ab, put the parts in a bowl (or whatever you have), pour in the restorer and fish the parts out of this cleaner after 2 hours!

after rinsing under tab water and reassembly your iwata is like brand new!

no more sorrows again! never! promised!

I've had someone tell me once that you should never have to break down an airbrush if you clean it properly after use. I really find that hard to believe.

that dude would be surprised about HOW MUCH old paint comes out of the single ab parts! my jaw dropped when i saw black residue floating out of the ab parts after ONE minute already! i had cleaned my airbrushes before i received my ab restorer and i had thought that they were clean!

boy was i mistaken!

tons of paint came out of my badger150! a s&%*load of dirt that was!

like i have written in my ab cleaning tutorial i break down my airbrushes at least every three months to clean them thoroughly!
