So You Think Your Airbrush Is Clean...

Iron Mike

Master At Arms And Resident Curmudgeon
That's what I thought. I'm always careful to flush paint from my brushes between colors and more so when I am at the end of the day, but the recent hot weather seems to have caused a malfunction in that practice. We were merrily shooting paint yesterday and early this morning, then it happened! Nothing would come out of my Iwata Eclipse, not matter how high the pressure or running the hottest lacquer thinner I had. So, I brought it in and proceeded to break it down. Here's what came out.

That big chunk came from the rear of the bowl, looks like house paint. The string looking thing is one of the paper dental rolls we bought last year, they are awesome for cleaning small spaces!

After getting everything back together, I decided I should hit the Badger Krome while I was at it. I went to Badger's site and watched the review, it has a complete breakdown and parts list, making the diassembly much less daunting. While breaking it down, this came out when I pulled the needle.

Not seeing anything like that on the parts list, I feared it was an internal seal that had degraded and failed. I called Badger, they hooked me up with a technician who patiently waited while I sent him the photos. He assured me it was just built up crud (so much for my housekeeping methods). I put everything back together and all's well with the world again. Until next time...
