Started to play with the DML 54cm Morser kit (not sure why) should this housing have a crack around it?

No there shouldnt be a crack, but you'll be gluing the breech on there wont you which will cover it? I cant remember and I dont have the Dragon kit anymore. I'm pretty sure there is a front and back piece which covers most of the seams. As for the rest it was a 2 piece cast block if I remember correctly and a coat of Mr surfacer and stippling with a coarse brush should render that affect.
